i think everyone is getting a bit carried away, i dont know all the people who organise these events but they shouldnt cope all the shit they do. without them i doubt we'd hava cq challenge cuz i doubt ur average joe will wanna organise it. If you dont like how its run you organise it :finger:

on another note, back to crazy's problem of no helpers, just an idea but how about offering some sought of incentive perhaps a gift voucher or something similar, doesnt have to be much but it may be enough to lure a larger number of helpers. imagine having TOO MANY people to help???

If you boys are seriously chasing an idea on winchs for a bit of fun/self recovery/minor comp work. The Premier winchs have been given a pretty proper work out by the yanks in the last couple of years and seem to perform quite well to most task... And as the aussie dollar gets better and better they're getting cheaper and cheaper if you buy direct...

I no of no one that is running an Ironman in competition (XWC or SSS). If there is it might be on the back but then I would say most would be using WARN for that mater & a good few also have a high mount on rear, can act as spares on front.

If you are keen to do serious comps, do not waste your money on an Ironman. But if you only want it for a tourier Ironman might be ok.

Cheers

yes i believe so thats wat i have read on other forums. Apparently with a warn casing the ratio becomes faster with ironman gears

Yeah SuttyGU...

It's something to do with the brakes on the Ironman... I think they are a better design?

I think they are an Ironman brake and gearbox with a warn housing and motor?

They are fast but!!!!!

I got this great deal off a company on ebay sutty.
It was just 300 dollars brand new with a new controller and everything.

I had to pay 120 in shipping from china but I reckon that's pretty cheap

They said it was a warn XP9.5 but it doesn't have any markings on it.

It works really well when I towed out a suzuki vitara.
A little slower than I'd hoped and it stalled a few times but overall it seems pretty good. I'm going to compete with it next year.

hey digsy is it expensive to get the warn housing machined out to take ironman internals? Would it be easier to just run a ironman casing? I dont care if people know its a ironman winch it wil be way faster than a 24v warn anyway.

Hey Ash

I see you niva doesnt have anadized snicker breathers on it yet... my cousin pauly said its the best mod for midrange grunt on his fully sic street cruizer, it does low 9's on the quarter mile but now he's turned the boost up... I'm sure he could help hook you up with some if you'd like...

Hey Ash.

It is a secret but I'm sick of secrets between the winch boys now...
The Ironman conversion is cheap and easy and is less than a new highmount!
Mason has been keeping it to himself for too long about the chinese internals being the biz niz!
As for the air free spool he has, I hear that if you use a few choice bits from a sewing machine, washing machine and a vacuum cleaner anyone could build these using only a screw driver and a stanley knife... apparently it's really simple once you get one and look at it (a few of my mates have been sussing it out on the down low, don't tell anyone)
The vacuum cleaner provides the suction to pull it out of gear apparently.

Anyway I don't think any of you guys are really interested in comps anymore! I heard the bow wow on a saturday night is the spot to be!!!!
