GQ Complete engine fail, Any idea's?

Post by fourby »

4.2 ltr stock 6cyl GQ petrol/lpg. I have been told that the alternator it putting out more power than it should then today driving down the highway I flashed a car to let him know he was clear to merge into my lane then the dash went crazy flicking all gauges randomly. Then the car completely shut off. It's an auto so I put it in Neutral and coasted far left. With the ignition still on "accessories" the car wouldn't start. Then I took the keys completely out then trying again it started straight away..

Any idea's or questions for more info please reply.

Thanks in advance,
Luke.

Check the fuseable links at the battery pos, they are green and yellow(ish) common fault, give e'm a wiggle, you may find nothing but luck keeping them together.

I'll put my money on an earth problem. I'd check the negative lead where it meets the body etc if the battery end is good.
