Vit diff gearing/speedo error

Post by HILLBILLYZOOK »

Hi all, just starting out on a project and weighing up options. I wanna fit bigger tyres to my '95 vit estate with V6 and auto but don't wanna destroy the gearing or throw the speedo too far out. Does anybody know what the diff gear ratios are for the various engine and trans combos in Vitaras? eg can i just swap to 4cyl manual diffs? Obviously I'm not set on any tyre size yet but 16" rims holds me back a bit and I don't want 31s or bigger. any help would be great.

If it's the H20a V6 Vitara, it would have 4.6:1 or 4.8:1 Diff ratio's standard. you can swap in the 5.1:1 R&P from the 1.6 Vitara's, this will bring your gearing back to almost standard when running 31's

Check out my build up thread below

Just another thought, anyone looked at speedo correction boxes?

That could be an option, I'm not sure if there is anything out there though.

The 5.12:1's will bring you speedo back to stock with 31" sized tyres.
