put some 2 stroke in the mq today and it seems quieter and seems to have abit more torque but it could have been the cool moist air today helping out.

I thought KERO was abrasive properties??? Don't think I'd be using it. Metho to get rid of water but not KERO.

I thought Kero was a more refined form of diesel?

On a side note, I didn't use two stroke in this tanks fill up in the Terrano II. It isn't running as smooth, but in saying that i think I will get more km's out of this tank without the 2-stroke oil in in it. I probably need to remove the guess work from all of this and record some figures. Will report back with numbers over the next couple of weeks.

im keen to try the acetone, it makes more sence than the 2 stroke as a preformance gain, the mix for 80L is 120mls. im keen to see if it makes any difference, but at the moment im a non-beliver!

DO NOT USE METHO IN DIESEL.

It will separate the diesel into 2 distinct layers.

try it in some clear containers.

Use acetone in diesel for water issues after you have drained off the water from the tank, filters etc.
but dont use metho.

Never heard that Kero was abrasive??? No way!!! It's slippery - More slippery than petrol, less than diesel. It has to be non-abrasive, it's a fuel.
We have a Fordson model N tractor that starts with petrol and then we switch over to running on Kerosene.
It's been running undisturbed for over 60 years so far.

Who said anything about using Kero to get rid of water??

Plus it's really bad for you. Read a MSDS for it if you are going to use it and use the recomended PPE.

Yes, in turbo prop engines, not injector pump run motors.

Well how about you get some, and mix it with diesel, and let us know how it turns out.

I didnt want people to add metho to the diesel in their tanks, and have it separate, and thus damage their injector pumps and injectors.

I have a rattly old 1HDT (450K) I am just about to fill up using 2T for the second time, I'm sold.

The motor is so much quieter, it's sounds like a new one.

A mate of mine runs 100% used/filtered atf in his 6.2 chev turbo diesel no probs. hes been doing it for about 6 months so far with plenty of abuse and runs great, he reckons he gets better economy also out of it.

he is a mechanic and have mates in the atf industry to get 44 gal drums to filter and use.

i believe he uses 3 filters inline to grab all defects out of it.

One thing to consider is adding acetone to your diesel.
I have seen the effects of it in both diesel, and petty applications.

Very good at cleaning nozzles, and combustion chambers.

and mixing the remaining moisture in a tank with the fuel to be burnt.

last fill up, i tryed 2 stroke in the tank. 1L of oil to 80 L of diesel.

iv done 500km, its made 0.000000% difference. engine sounds the same, doesnt go any better, still using the same amount of fuel.

only difference is that it cost me $20 more for the bottle of oil to fill up.

The ratio is supposed to be 200:1 not 80:1 as you've done. You should be adding 400 millilitres of oil to 80 liitres of diesel.
I'm not surprised you didn't notice an increase in power. If anything there would have a decrease in power using that much!
No need to use 2stroke oil that costs $20 a litre. I just use Valvoline 2stroke. It costs $6.50 for 1 litre at Woolies.
Works out around $2.60 extra per fill. BIG difference to your $20.00 extra.

Don't understand it not quietening the injector setup though....

sounds like u are using some super classy (probably fully synthetic) two stroke oil there.... and expensive at that!

if u read through all the info it suggest to just use a cheap (not fully synthetic) mineral based two stroke oil at 200:1 (semi-synthetic is also fine.)

give that a go next time after u run all your current tank through

Well I havent run the tank throug but so far the observed results are:

Quiet
the noise from the injector gear / pump was quietened almost instantly.
Power
Same or maybe a little less. (NA 4.2 D) Bit hard to give a categorical answer. Felt like Id added new heavy oil and a tonne of load. Delivery of power was however smoothed
Starting
There used to be a fluffy injector on start up /warm up. Only gave one blipp this morning after running approx 1km on the new mix

I added 500ml to approx 84L.

This will be an interesting experiment

4x4 started much better better today alot less smoke (sd33t) quieter and smoother idle, with 360km run through from the mix.

If you read through the link that was quoted at the beginning of this thread, you will find that the "shit for lawn mowers" is exactly what you "should" be using.
There is no gain to be had by using fancy big dollar 2stroke oil over the cheaper stuff. Just stick to a reputable brand, that's all.

Try it (at 200:1 not 80:1 as you did before  ). The difference for the better might surprise you.
If it's still no good, then what have you lost??
And if you are still critical about it, you will at least have followed the directions this time. :P

Family friend has added it to his lawn mower and noticed it 2 mins into the first front lawn he done, quieter, smoother, it doesnt bark as much when working under heavy load. Gunna be hard for him to judge economy though, but he is definatly gunna put it in his cruiser too.

His mower is a walker mower with a 3 cyl kubota ( around 20hp) diesel engine. they run hydro drive, skid steer, and pulley and gearbox setups for blades, blowers ,etc. Pretty much a mini combine harvester to cut lawns.

Everyones reports pretty well sum up how my old POS runs when its on cooking oil. I ran it on diesel for a couple weeks before i planned to swap engine,s etc and couldnt believe how much noiser and rough it runs on 100% diesel.
