Hey guys I own a 97 toyota hilux 5L 3.0ltr diesel. I want to install a turbo for it, but i dont want to spend the big bucks to get a brand new kit. I currently have a mitsubishi tdo4 turbo charger, but am not sure how i can go about getting all the other gear needed.. Also i saw a second hand DTS turbo kit on a 3L 2.8 litre hilux at a wreckers. was wondering if mabye this could fit my car? Any help will be appreciated. thanks

pretty sure its a bolt up fit between the 3L and 5L but double checkit.
If you get it make sure you have a flexible joint fitted just under the turbo and have a minimum 2.5 inch exhaust fitted and it will spool up nicely at low revs and give you that nice whistle.. With your injector pump, screw the fuel screw in just 1/4 of a turn and no more. if there is a heap of black smoke under load back it off a poofteenth and if theres no smoke at all you could probably go a few poofteenths more in.

mate the turbo kit will definately bolt up, i had the 2.8 in my lux and changed to the 5Le motor...which is exactly the same only more sensors and is computer controlled...
The heads have the same bolt pattern and the outside of the block are the same, so the oil lines and stuff will bolt up.
The only thing i found was a different crossover pipe from outlet of the turbo to intake manifold was needed... But don't think that is the same on the 5L, pretty sure they have the same intake manifold... that will be the only one to check..
Having failed that you can get a turbo setup off a 2Lte motor (2.4 turbo diesel) these you will pick up for around $500 and there is heaps of info on them... (look in the bible i think it is in there)
