timing belt help

yeah id definately change the lot at one time rather having to go in there again. id have a go at it myself but its been a long time since i had to find top dead centre. i dont want to ass it.

im not a trained monkey, not even an untrained monkey
but im still going to try, got the bits ordered from east coast 4wd as posted previously, $220 posted to me, thats timing belt kit, all belts, even though i dont have air con or pwr steer, so if anyone wants to give me a hand to make sure i dont farrk anything up, id appreciate it, if i get the parts before this weekend, ill have a go on the weekend.
if anyone knows how to do it properly, and they arent too far away from the wyong area, and theyd like to help me out. i really would be very grateful.

If you have the book youll be right. Just tripple check the marks before starting. A white pen is a good idea to mark the 3 points before you remove the belt so you dont get confused if any of the shafts move.

i just spent the last hour or so reading the book, its a haynes book that covers hilux/4runner diesel from 1979-1996 series LN 2wd and 4wd, its really confusing and most of the pics are from the later model 2L engine, so ill be looking around for a more detailed book that covers my model lux more than anything
anyone know what a good one is?? gregorys, etc
i just need one that i can follow easily, i dont want to farrk the engine. do i need to buy any special tools?? im getting a super cheap auto torque wrench tomorrow as the pinion nut in rear diff came loose and was leaking(obviously i didnt do it tight enough when i replace the seal, i did it as tight as i could with a ratchet),
any more advice/tips that will make it easier for me.

hey tony, just looked at your lux when ya missus was over, you need an adjustable torque, this is the reason why your torque rod mount has cracked. get an adj. torque and then get it welded up.. happy days, how did it run after i fitted the t/belt ??

its been good, i flushed out radiator and hoses, fitted everything back on, then parked on the grass, flushed engine, added coolant and idled engine for about half hour, then went for a drive for about 20mins, parked it and topped up coolant, checked it this morning, topped up overflow bottle, all good so far.
yeah i noticed the crack on the torque rod mount when i was refitting radiator. lucky i noticed it, its a good crack. i knew there was something loose in front end. ill get it looked at tomorrow, and ill get an adjustable rod,

yeah mel got to test out the tyres offroad before i did, on james driveway, and i cant believe she called it torque wrench.
