ARB air locker is more effective" 'cause you've tested both to come to this conclusion
"Hilux has better resale" Yup, buy about as much extra as it costs to buy
"Service + quality" Bwahahahaha, that is all...

Good to see that you have plenty of stuff to keep you busy..idiot.
Hilux is the biggest selling car...
Obviously not such a bad car.
I am simply disappointed with Mitsubishi's service.
The whole under proise over deliver is obvioulsy something they don't learn.
To pay a deposit and be told that your new car is now not going to be delivered on time, as promised, and that it's going to be 3 months late, is something that no car manufacturer can use as a good news story.
Enjoy you triton, and I'l enjoy the hilux!!

andy I don't think you should shoot your mouth off too quick about toyota's deliery times, I worked for toyota when prados were first released and if you wanted a gxl auto it was between 2-3 month wait in certain colors and options. I ran into one guy that waited over 4 months for a VX grande. there was people trying to cancel orders all over the place and the dealer (graham werner's) held them to the contracts.
and I have a mate thats had his new SR5 td lux back for 5 warranty claims in 35,000 kms for gearbox issues, it turns out its a fault in the machining of the engine block and toyota is trying to worm their way out of it.
85 high roof 1.3, 6.5 tc, air lockers, ruf and 34 swampers. yep its an ugly pos.
the new tritons with the long tray look kinda wierd, somethings not in proportion there, and they are REALLY easy to tear the rear bumper off of because the depature angle SUCKS.

one of the reasons toyota sell's so many hilux's is they offer the best fleet discount on their commercials. the company my wife works for (road construction) has over 700 hilux's on the books. so when you buy one cheap with a good fleet discount and get normal trade in prices when it comes time to sell you dont lose a lot over a couple of years of ownership. for some reason mitsu and nissan cant offer the same discounts. im sure you will enjoy the hilux
I saw 07 plate (ex mineral exploration? sounds like a new way to say mine truck?) hilux single cab 4x4 3.0litre manual's with steel bullbar and trays sell for more at auction than new triton with a 5-10yr warranty
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

Its like the farmers that walked past a GQ patrol to a Ford maverick .. cos they didnt want that nissan shit ...

andy1517 wrote:well triton ELECTRIC difflock was 900...ARB air locker not that much more expensive.!! Pretty easy decision in my mind
The triton diff lock is air operated and can be had for $500 - retail at time of purchase is $700
Is it the same as the 9.5 inch Paj rear locker ?
What do you call a deer with no eyes...???
Blind, or unlucky .. Failing that I would call it a deer with no eyes ..
So what do you know about locker interchangeability between pajeros and tritons

They offered $1800 off retail as a fleet discount - Mitsu offered $9,500 straight up...
And yet Toyota sells more??
Sounds like the quality issue is becoming more predominant.
How does Triton air operated locker work with air compressor? Or is there one mounted?
Triton compressor is chassis mounted, requires relocation when fitting a long range tank...
More sales has nothing to do with quality - once upon a time the lux was the ducks nuts in quality and reliability - manufacturing is now located in Thailand like the others and they are built to a budget then Toyota add a big mark up because they are still riding on the reputation of days gone by...

Dash Switch goes to an ECU dohickory thingamajig which operates a compressor and locks the diff at a low pressure (5-7psi). ECU just makes sure it can't be locked without being in 4WD and also going to fast.

Another p38 for spare parts, then a third for when the first is being fixed?
Paul
No no, it's more that in the past I used to approach big purchases with some effort towards research, informing myself, and being careful. But thanks to this thread, I can see that what I should have been relying on is half-baked word-of-mouth, misinformation, and sussing out which brand more people barrack for.

Welcome to advertising and marketing, please enjoy your stay.
I think the triton looks better, has a good motor and comes with super select (always liked awd mode in mums Paj). I've not driven one of the new tritons but I have driven a late model Lux on road and didn't really like it much, plus I think they look too yanked up. After market parts suport is prob a bit better for the lux but even then I'd still wait for a triton.
PS. I don't talk to car salesmen so these opinions are my own not those of either manufacturer.

Haven't you noticed yet that the only way to purchase anything these days is to run a poll and then ignore the results and do whatever you heard from some stranger one in a passing conversation
Dear god, really? I know where you're coming from, the current Hiluxes are incredibly ugly so almost anything would look better. But even though that's a good point, it's only *almost*... and the one thing that definitely looks even worse is a new Triton. I can't drive past one without feeling sorry for the poor bloke who owns it.

Does anyone else think they look good..???
The front of the triton isn't tooooooo bad, but the rear of the cab and the tray look ridiculous.
I actually really like the last model Triton, it was much better looking then both the new Triton and the new Hilux.
If I was going to fork out coin for a new ute, I couldn't go past the
D-max.
I know it's just a last model Rodeo, but damn it's a sexy lookin ute and the stats on the Motors look tops...
