Stupid Sierra Overflow Bottles

Has anyone found a solution to stop their overflow bottle (radiator) from getting stress fractures and leaking?!? i'm on my 3rd bottle now and this one looked perfect only 6 months ago!

A Baleno bottle fits straight on.

Not necessarily made of better material or anything, but at least they are newer and easy to find at wreckers.

buy a catch can from an auto store or find someone to make one for you. I went and bought a monza catch can it works a treat

spray with armourall occasionally to stop cracking and affix with 2 cable ties to the back of mounting bracket then around overflow bottle to stop coming loose

I think the failure of these bottles comes from temperature cycling. Whilst I agree that armour-all brings them up a treat, I doubt it will do anything to increase their life.

In regard to loosing them - make sure the tabs on the radiator bracket haven't bent and lost their tension. It's not hard to bend the bracket back into shape to hold the bottle more firmly.

yeah mines either from temp cycling as steve suggested or the constant vibration they endure being mounted to the radiator without any rubber etc to dampen it.

i have seen people use a juce bottle outlasted the car and there cheap.

hahah yeah i contemplated a 600ml coke bottle... i just bit the bullet and bought a brand spanker - and its a tighter fit on the rad mount too... seems to be made of pretty high quality plastic too, not the thin stuff from the factory. $25 for a brand new one was too hard to pass up.

Here's mine as I couldn't see the point of parting with the money for a crappy plastic one and havin' to buy new ones every time they died so I just lashed out on an alloy billet type from Bursons cost me about $44 from memory? The plastic after market ones were around $25-$30 ish figured I'd just spend the extra and be happy with my purchase!

i ve got a 600ml fanta bottle. i just drilled a hole in the lid and away i go. has been going strong.
