The old 6.5 was a horrible engine and not worth putting in, However the 6.6 duramax is a totally different story. 400+HP, huge amount of torque, and still use same amount as fuel as a V6 commodore. Sounds good to me :lol:

The 200 certianly drinks fuel, as well as oil, early on, we have some customers who run 200 and towing big vans, and 24-29 lt per 100km they average towing, up to 45 lt per 100km sometimes, tyres down, outback.

Neither had anywhere near that consumption with thier power boosted 100's with TD.

Lucky they are better for the environment, for the reasons they had to phase out the 1hdfte.......... :roll:

Toyota is turning into a real turd of a manufacturer. I used to have a huge amount of faith in quality and reliability of their vehicles, but I don't think I would buy any of the current versions.

So everyone else is just making it up and there is actually no problem? Bit like Nissan saying there are no problems with ZD30s...

As for my Nissan never letting me down, I don't get into stupid brand name arguments. Toyota vs Nissan is as bad as bogans arguing between Ford vs Holden. I have owned all of them, each have their good and bad points. Some people are just incredibly narrow minded.

I wouldn't buy a current model Nissan either. Thankfully I have a late 06 gu with the last of the td42s so I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon.

200 series is between 12% and 32% heavier than the 70 series (depending on whether comparing heavier 70 series Troopcarrier to lighter 200 series model, or lighter 70 series cab chassis to heavier 200 series model).

a naturally aspirated Toyota 2H motor will generate around 70kw @ 3500 rpm. The 6.2 litre Chev diesel offers nearly 120kw at the same rpm

The 6.5L chev weighs heaps more and delivers marginally more power than the 3.0L turbo :lol:

A 3.0L turbo with chip and exhaust would probably smoke him off the lights using half the fuel or less....

Bj, agree wholeheartedly on the 6.2/6.5, they are dinosaurs.

However duramax is anywhere from 300 to 365 hp, up to 660ft.lb torque, will put the landcruiser 4.5 to shame. (convert those to metric if you want - the HP goes down 1/4 but the torque goes up by about 1/3 so you end up with roughly 275kW and 850Nm which is fairly significant in anyone's book.


turbo, exhaust, intercool and tune a 1HD-FT and you have potential for 600+Nm, 170+kW, who knows what's possible with a chip, exhaust and proper intercooler on a 4.5 cruiser V8?

yeah he said 6.5L chev. By the time he spends $20k on a drive in drive out on that and closer to $30k on the 6.6 duramax (which he didnt mention on the last page)

Imagine what $30k on chip, exhaust and internals would do on the 4.5L V8 diesel, would have to be an animal!

A duramax is nearly 50% bigger than the toyota.

cube for cube the toyota is a better engine. They just need to release a 6l version and then we will all be happy :D
