GU anchor points

Post by unr33l »

Was looking to fit a 3rd child seat to my wagon and realised there is nowhere to mount the anchor point in the middle. ( 2nd row). Have had a chat to child restraint station who explained seat is not engineered to take a restraint in the centre and also is where the 2 seats meet ( 50/50 split) so restraint would fall between the seats. There is no option to mount to the roof either, so only option is a 'crab bar' where all three restraints can be fitted. However the rear seats would have to be removed as they would be a hazard to anyone in the 3rd row seats.
Has anybody heard of any other way to fit a 3rd anchor point, without losing the 3rd row seats?

The 2 outside anchor points are immediately behind the 2nd seat. But I thought there was a third, towards the rear of the cargo area, just in front of the barn doors. I would have to have a look and check.

your correct, the third is on the passenger side near rear door. I want to fit 3 across the 2nd row of seats though.

Here in Qld you can get one fitted and blue plated. Should be the same down your way.

the crab bar mounts under side windows - if you look there is a square removeable panel. it is behind where the seats fold up, not gonna leave them down permantly and probley get knocked back on rego even with foam. gonna find out more on roof mount.

talked to another fitting station today. can fit 3 points to roof crossmember at rear near barn doors. the left and right have a hole already, but the middle one has to have a hole drilled and a plate inserted with a bolt welded to it and pop riveted in. a small hole in the trim also has to be cut to mount the anchor point. was quoted $100 to get done and signed off. very handy also for anyone with drawer systems..
