Widening flares

Post by SAWZALL »

I'm looking to widen my standard Zook flares. I have a feeling that cutting them down the guts and adding a 2 inch band into the flare. I think that the thin metal may warp like a MF. Anyone had any experience doind this?????????

I think these are the flares that i am now the owner of.

We have a fellow in the zook club that is investigating using one of them to create a mould and make some poly-something-er-other flares out of them... should be good when it's done i hope.

Check out the pic of unsafe in this thread mate - they are those exact flares, which will be used as a template (mould) to make more flares out of some plastic-y type stuff (poly urethane perhaps - same stuff that rollerblade wheels are made from i'm told)...

If i was estimating - from memory i think they are 100mm wide.

Nam / Liam - 100mm? does that sounds right?

Will they be sold? I hope so - i'd like to get some money back on my part of this project... :D I'll keep you informed things if it ever takes off.

Hi All,
I normally just drop by hear and keep an eye on whats happening but I've just started to make a mould here in NZ for rotational moulding SJ 410 / Samurai flares out of polyethylene so I thought I'd see if ya's are interested. They will be a similar style to zuk boys (Canadian made) ones http://www.zukboys.com/fender/
I'm still about 8 to 10 weeks from starting to make them but would like to know if any one would be interested in them, they will retail here for $350NZ. What ya's think ?

Uphiir,
They will cover approximately 125mm out from your guard but I will post exact details once the first ones have been made so I can give an exact figure. The under side is a flat surface which is about 200mm deep so you could put extensions on with out a problem.

Uphiir,
Yeah thats right 200mm which means you get 75mm inside the guard if you take the 125mm coverage off the 200mm =75 mm. The reason for this as they are multi fit flares and you can trim out the excess once fitted. Most guys have rock sliders and custom fabricated bumpers so they trim them out to suit what they have.
