80 series gearbox

ive got a base model 80series with a 1hz,my gearbox has just shit its self so is it worth rebuilding that one or getting one out of a turbo diesel 80 as ive heard there stronger?whats involved in swapping the two or does it just bolt straight in?

They're essentially the same box, however the 1st and 2nd ratios in the TD box are taller.

You'd need to change your clutch plate to match the larger input shaft.

no point in putting td box in
its the 100 series that had the weaker box for the 1hz
80 has the good box in all of them
80 series 1980 hilux cab supra twin turbo engine
1hdfte 80 series
LHD fz 80 series GX
