40 inch MTR's?????????

It seems i have a facination for rubber lately!

So is anyone on here using these, if so how much did you pay????

What do you think of them????

Another tyre only (to my knowledge) available on a 17" rim which adds significantly to the cost.

That aside, I'd also be pretty curious as to any local reviews.

They have them at pro-comp down here... locky would know. Cheezy aswell. However that wont help up north.

BFG has also brought out the 17" A/T for the prado market.

If you are worried about the sidewall strength of the krawler, you will have the same issues with the mtr.

I think all the rubber compounds are very similar between the krawlers, pro comp x-terains, iroks and the mtrs.

Yes but a MTR is a Shait load cheaper than the Krawler and also easier to get!

Meaning i won't be as pissed off when i destroy one. Also i would be able to buy more MTR's to cover any weakness's.

ATM i am looking at all the different options that may suit my need!!

The 40 inch MTR isnt that much cheap! Dont forget the cost of 17 inch wheels on top of the tyres.

I think it would be a toss up between the IROK or the TSL. The TSL would be a stronger tyre that would probably stand up to the most abuse, the IROK would take a better beating than the mtr or krawler and have better outright grip than the TSL.

Yes i have been reading about all four tyres and who uses them on Pirate and i have come to that conclusion aswell!

Also are the Krawlers that we get here the COMP krawlers of the normal ones the sell to the public, i have been told that there is a difference!

as far as i know the krawlers are just the over the counter ones.

Pro Comp in Melbourne are supposed to be bringing in the COMP spec x-terrains, 40 on a 20inch rim.

Who here in Oz is selling Krawlers to the public? At the recent Queanbeyan 4WD show Quick Fit tyres had a Krawler on display. The guy told me it was the only one that Michelin had brought into the country. I offered him $400 bucks for it but he said that Michelin would kill him if he lost it!

Also told me that we *could* see them here mid-year but if I really wanted some I should probably look into buying them from the US and shipping them myself. Or if I knew a few others who wanted them, he might help out with a private import.

The simple reason being i need a tyre that can handle Comp work but also handle the abuse that we dish out on a normal O/L trip!

You dont want an MTR! Cant go past the TSL or the TSL/SX for strength.

I love my TSLs

They are fairly soft and when they get a bit of heat into them they stick like sh!t to a blanket

And they take a beating and come back for more

They bag nicely at low pressures aswell.

Yeah I've only driven on the boggers twice but I've fallen for them. They ARE the shit as far as I am concerned. And if anybody can tell me otherwise - I don't want to know as I'm still sore from the purchase.

when are we gonna see some improvements on price due to the exchange rate? the aus dollar is rocking nowadays, but all these tyres seem to be the same price as they were 12 months ago?

I think, what you'll find is that a lot of the manufacturers have a head office in Australia and that the distributors deal with them..... Therefor they are dealing in Australian Currency.
Also don't know if the manufacturer is having price rises etc.

The 40s are great on the road! You need 17s, but they are available over the shelf in alloys.
