gu patrol lacking power and hard to start
i have 1999 gu 4.2td and i recently changed my fuel filter which had rust on the top of it and within bout 20 mins of it my car was lacking power and cuts out at bout 3500 rpm in 2nd gear if you get up it is there any filters between the main filter and the injectors i have had my turbo checked out and its fine and dont have egt guage so i cant tell what its running on
Yep. sounds like it is sucking air.
I have an aftermarket with a glass bowl and water separator. You can see it "drip" air into the system if it is not tight enough.
Tight enough can be pretty bloody tight mate.
Bleeding can be a bitch, try tightening it first and taking it for a spin if no joy start cracking injectors and bleeding out.
Good luck.

try that little filter first before cracking injectors. some people just throw it out. i did 2 years ago and still going strong. but each to their own.
undo banjo fitting.
there'll be a spring down in the hole you pull the bolt out of, remove that.
then there'll be a little brass looking gauze thimble filter you might not be able to see through the diesel
you might need a fine bit of wire bent in the shape of a tent peg to hook it out.
hope it helps. i thought i was up for an injector pump before i did this.
try these for a few pics.
