on the spectators issue, aren't the sponsors going to be more happy if people (other than just racers, who probably have competitors sponsorship) see their company logo! it would be like the V8 supercars not being televised or allowing spectators! sponsors would drop fairly fast! I know its not a HUGE event with 10,000 spectators and sponsors dripping from the walls, but.... I'm sure the naming rights sponsor still thinks about their name getting out and about when they are signing over the sponsorship cheque! its a way to draw more sponsors in as well "you should sponsor it, we have 1000 spectators that will see your nae all over the place". It might be more about the racing than the spectators, but if the sponsors drop, who will fund some of these vehicles, or even the event?
just a thought

great event
I went to the cliffhanger for the first time this year had a great time, Cobar sounds okay. Just feel a little sorry for the locals around the old property who have put so much time and effort in with the new areas for meals and showers I just hope it returns there soon?
Anyways good luck with 2010. its a great event

Gees - thought no one would ever step up to the plate and offer - thanks.
I've got a challenge car with V8 conversion in progress and only the OBC to race in. Given I cant race in my own event that is. Was also talking to Adrian Szentisi in WA as it might be worth the trip there to compete too.
Woo Hoo - if the Broken Hill boys run an event, please count me in. Totally have my support and I would be pleased to help out any way I can.

Hobzee,
Any news on the new site at cobar? Doesn`t matter if you have been busy but there is some silly talk up our way that with the change in venue there might be a change in pace of the comp ie slower tighter. Please tell me that this is just a sick joke made up by the geelong boys to get even with Kingy and Pete for thair shanagians the first night at whitecliffs.Cory and myself drank I mean studied really hard to get the feel for the comp and we liked what we saw.Cheers Billy

Inya Racing..
i know the property its going to be on and it wont disappoint ,different to what you have been used to ,not as fast but will make you think.Ruffy wrote: If it's cobar or nowhere then where would you prefer?
I say put up or shut up, constructive critiscism is healthy, so once you've experienced the event at Cobar then fire away. By all means ask questions to see if the event is suitable for you, but negativity at this point is meaningless to all parties involved.
Lets go Racing
Thanks for the heads up Montana sounds like a great property!!!My question was though is the format of Cliffhanger going to be changed?Myself I have a picture of what cliffhanger is in my head and a few of us went out this year to see it first hand before we raced it. The change of venue wont worry us in the slightest. But if its going to be a low range only comp like a local winch event we`d like to know this prior to.Cheers Billy
Inya Racing..
style will be very similair to white cliffs, howver being different terrain, we can offer a whole new range of stages.... pace is always going to be mixed... from slo to fast to faster..... it won;t change

Hey there Hangers,
Long time no speak. Last week I dragged Doodle out into the heat and we checked out the new pad. Like WOW!
Basically we are not expecting water or mud. Instead there are more offroad racing stages instead of Mud. So it will be Navigation, Winching, Dry Creeks with a mix of sandy stretches and rocky stretches and yep a River winch wall and more adrenaline pumping offroad racing stages. We are very excited this will shape the future of the event in an exciting direction and lure some of the earlier competitors back to the sport with the higher speeds and NO MUD.
Good thing about NO MUD is that these are the stages where dudes bugger trucks and this spoils the rest of the week. They are also the stages where if someone DNF's they often exceed DNF time by over a half hour and we dont get everyone through it in a day.
But having said there is no mud I found the only patch of mud on the property and cheeky remarks coming from the back seat almost landed Rudes with a winch rope in hand.
There are heaps of rocks and heaps of really big trees to winch off.
We have introduced a $250 spectator package that goes for the whole week, including presentation dinner but requires these dudes to head into town each night (can stay for night stages on 2 nights). Last year spectators were $440 - this year the stay in town option is $190 less. You get 4 in a car and thats a $780 saving.
Base camp has 2wd car, truck and caravan access, is right next to a great water supply for swimming and no carting water for toilets and showers. It also has its own gate into a camp area that will be policed by marshals to make sure every car in the camp area has paid for camping access. It also makes it a bit more secure.
Sunday day has stage 1 and then sunday night has stage 2. This enables local midweek workers and school kids in Cobar to have a chance to see some action. So bear in mind we are bringing the start forward from a night stage to a day stage.
Friday night presentation is at Cobar Bowls and Golf Club - caters for about 400 people and we are providing dinner for every attendee other than the one off "single day" spectators. They can pay $25 p.person for presentation night. People are welcome to go back to camp after presentation but we have allowed time so that after Friday racing you can load up and head into Cobar, have presentation and stay in a motel that night and make straight for home Saturday.
Rudes has put up links on the web site for places to book accommodation, etc.
All maps and directions will be given to everyone who signs up online and pays.

Means this little black duck needs to waddle faster... or drive and get the small guy to run......
"Never underestimate a child's ability to get into more trouble."
As a helper last year, I accept that change can be good for an event, but why so much of an increase in costs for spectators? Ultimately they are the ones who help create new competitors for yours and others events. and also buy from sponsors. not wanting so many spectators is not a very good reason!
why do the ccda rules mean that cars have to be regoed.
my car isnt regoed for the simple fact that i dont drive i ton road so im not paying to do so.
this mean si cant enter comps unless i pay 1100+ per year.what a joke.then you need to pay enginerring, entry fees, petrol, food.it all adds up
that being after the fact if it passes a blue and pink slip.
mine probably wont because it has extended shackles which are un engineerable and i cant afford to engineer it anyway.
are there any comps where your car doesnt have to be regoed except tuff truck?

The main objective behind you requiring rego is to remove the onus from the CCDA or event organisers for you to have a "safe" vehicle at the event. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure the vehicle is kept roadworthy and registered this way the event scrutineers only need to ensure you have a sticker on your cage and the required recovery equipment.tufflux88 wrote:why do the ccda rules mean that cars have to be regoed.

It's basically a scapegoat for the CCDA.
Many others feel your pain
PS.. sorry for the hi-jack... Back on topic please
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
