1.3 sierra and 1.6 vitara fuel economy figures
Hi all, just wanting to know what sort of fuel figures other people get from there 1.3 sierra's and figures from 1.6 carby/efi vitara's and sierra's. also state what contributng mods oyu have also
Mines a stock softop with 235's and on full tank of 40L I get 334km's....highway and town driving.....equates to 11.97L/100km so rounded off to 12Litres per 100km's
so what do you's get with your zooks?
Also what revs are you's doin at 60, 80 and 100kph?
66kph - 2900 in 4th, 2600 in 5th,
88kph - 3500 in 4th, 2900 in 5th
111kph - 3500 in 5th
could be interesting to see who gets what from their zooks

just beat a Marlin in a swimming race
10L per 100 is considered normal... given larger tyres you'd expect that to drop too.
with mine (SPOA and 31s) i get about 230km to 30L... my tank is too dented to go further =) lol
with 31's and 5.14 tcase gears my revs are:
- 60km/hr, 4th - 2400rpm
- 80km/hr, 5th - 2400rpm
- 90km/hr, 5th - 3100rpm (?)
- 100km/hr, 5th - 3400rpm (i think?)
i find this gearing pretty decent - however im running 1.6 EFI engine as well, so i have the torque advantage over the 1.3.
when i had the 1.3 carby engine and 215/75's my revs were almost identical to what i have now.
EDIT: also -your tyres are 11% over stock size - so your speedo and odometer are out that much as well.... hence 330km = 366.5km and 60km/hr = 66.6km/hr, & 100km/hr = 111km/hr.

well as for the fuel - around 400km/40L would be normal lol but as u said bigger tyres and a tired engine dropped that alot..like 330km is running the tank dry!! the needle is below the empty line when it reads 330km haha
i can say 280 - 300km to be safe, just seems my sierra is sculling fuel like its cheap

So how many litres do you put in the tank when you've "run it dry", because 360km from a tank sounds pretty good to me.

i reset the "kilometer counter" and when i ran it "dry" it read 334km.....
i just thought i wasnt getting good fuel economy since its using more than 10L/100km..

I loaned my mum my zuk back when it was little. (tin top with 235's and extractors and a 2 inch exhaust)
She got just over 440 to a tank .. I rarely bested 330 .. depends on the way you drive.
She drove it like a a 50 year old mum would, gently accelerate, sit just below 100 etc...

You're arguing about 0.5l/100km? you're getting 10.5/100 based on your figures. I assume you are a young guy - I think that's pretty good economy. well i done some calculating and this is what i came up with:
334km divided by 40L = 8.35
so 1litre of fuel travels the zook 8.35km's
so i divided 8.35km's by 100km to get the litres per 100 km figure and came up with 11.97km per 100km's...
i suppose the 235's drop the economy so i guess im satisfyed with that sorta fuel usage

oh forgot the tyre increase %... shall recalculate....so i got 10.91litres per 100km's thats AWSOME i didnt take into account the 11% tyre difference.
im VERY happy with that figure

My tintop did 11.5L/100k stock, then 12.5L/100k on 235/75x15 MTRs + 2" body lift. Now got 6.5s in it with 31" Cooper STTs to go on when I get my act together, so will be interesting to see what that does to it.
The really interesting bit though is that it doesn't seem to mind how it's driven ... the difference between towing a 500kg trailer at 110 km/h versus gentle country cruising vs sand vs hoof down peak traffic is about 0.5L/100km ... go figure!

Mine gets approx 10.0L/100km on the swampers, i hammer it round a fair bit offroad, onroad it is driven as you would a zook on swampers. Economy hardly changes regardless of how its driven.

yea same economy doesnt really change depending on how i drive it. i give it to it off road and drive proper onroad - i dont bother rushing in town i just got my opens after a 2yr good behaviour driving probation lol so i do drive "normal" onroad and leave the fun to offroad

1.6 carby got me very similar figures to whats mentioned above... maybe 10km less per tank at best - and i was running a weber 32/36.
Its definitely driving style though - after having a rebuild a few weeks back i had to do the 1000km 'break in' period thing - so babying it essentially - and fuel economy increased a fair bit... like, rather than 230km to a tank (unadjusted for tyres) i was hitting 240ish... +18% for tyres.
It will be difficult - but try for a tank short changing gears a little more and not overtaking people in traffic etc, and take off gently at the lights (drive it like your granny would). It will amaze you the difference it makes.

vitara 1.6 efi with 235/75/15 (29") i get around 350ks (not adjusted for tyres) to a tank but i havnt let it go empty, i always refill just less than a 1/4 of a tank.
RPM, these speeds are not what the speedo reads but the actual speed of the car(roughly).
70ks- 5th= 2100rpm
80ks- 5th= 2700rpm
100ks- 5th= 3100rpm
110ks- 5th= 3600rpm
