Winch Truck Challenge series 2010 Central Queensland
With a strong 4wd following and participation in the CQ area we have decided to run our own series for 2010 and onwards.
The event organisers are experianced in organising 4wd events, competiting (XWC series, Cliffhanger, CQ Offroad Challenge, Logan Challenge and SSS) and officialing.
The Winch Truck Challenge ( WTC ) Series will consist of three rounds held at local properties in/around the Central Queensland area. Special Stages will be varied with a major emphasis on safety, navigation, driving skills, recovery and teamwork. All three rounds will be single car events, consisting of driver and navigator. All vehicles will be fitted with full roll cages and other complimentary safety equipment.
Entry is $280 per vehicle
All rounds will be weekend events starting on the Friday night with a welcome BBQ and scrutineering. Competition will start Saturday morning and come to a completion on the Sunday afternoon, with an awards presentation following.
Round 1 27th-28th February. Rockhampton Area
Round 2 29th-30th May. Mackay Area
Round 3 28th-29th August. TBA
Rules will be finalised before Christmas and will be available by ringing, emailing or PMing the event organisers.
Ian Davison 0408 500194
Brad Dukes 0412 437725
Brent Taylor 0414 455542
If anyone is interested in competiting, being an official etc than please post on here or let the event organisers know directly.
Entries will be capped at 30 vehicles maximum.
Cheers Davo

At this stage, SS's will be much like everyone is used to, XWC and SSS. But also depending on terain we hope to have some longer stages where you can open up your legs. Your GPS will be used extensivly so make sure you now how to use all of it's features. Street nav type GPS's will be unaceptable.
Rules and regs, entry forms etc will be available before xmas. As we don't have a website at the moment we will email them out to interested parties.

So reading through the rules it says no forced induction for modified class.
So does this mean no turbo diesels?
A guess everyone with a diesel will be racing open?
Cheers,
Welchy

• No aftermarket forced induction is allowed. If forced induction is factory then boost may be wound up but original turbo/housing/manifold must remain. Exhaust pipe size is allowed to be increased.
You are allowed forced induction as long as that model came out with it from the factory. If you have a standard diesal 4.2 GU say, then you can turbo it as long as you use the factory turbo and manifold etc. You can not use an aftermarket turbo or manifold, but you are allowed to play with boost and fuel as long as you use the factory pump.
It's all about extracting power from parts the vehicle was produced with. There is a limit to the aftermarket parts allowed otherwise you step up to OPEN class.

So where it says that you must isolate everything from the battery - does the car have to stop?
Can this switch be in the negative side?
Cheers,

By the looks of things so far, our Modified Class is going to be very popular and competitive.
But for those that are going to have to run open due to their vehicle mods, don't be discouraged from entering. Judging by some of the results from CQ Challenge this year, the lower budget teams can do just as well as long as they have the team work.

Hey Cris, not in the near future mate, but don't rule it out forever. The comp scene north of Brisbane is getting bigger all the time, and we are trying to cater to that.
Stirlo and Dave hold many events down your way all the time, but what would be better is if you pack yourselves up and come and see how we do things up here.

Massive interest from outside CQ. We will put up the details of where round 1 is exactly in the next week or so. At this stage it is looking like about 60k south of Rocky. The recent rain has made things look nice and green and should be good for camping. Entries where to officialy open on monday the 11th but we havent got our website up yet so they may be postponed for a few more days. In any case there will be a post on here linking to the site when it is up. All forms etc will be available for download from the website.
