Anti-Cancer Charitable Event by Navrun Feb 6/7, 2010

Post by NavRun »

Dear All,

The 2010 Fixture is already up and the new year will bring a new event called the High Country Challenge in our calendar. So please check out our fixture and start planning your calendar for next year. Go to direct link: http://navrun.com.au/fixture.htm

Meanwhile here is our first event for Feb. 2010.... all for a charitable cause!!!!!

It’s not often that Rudi gives stuff away or does things for free but when he was approached by an old Navster Nicky Lownes to run a charity Navrun and 100% of proceeds go to the Anti Cancer Relay for Life he was all for it. So that he doesn’t wear all the pain himself he has dragged Hobzee out of retirement and so it’s the old famous duo of Rudes and Hobzee running a Charity Navrun. This promises to be a hoot. We have lined up many sponsors as well, eg Aussie Disposals, Rooftop Maps, Vic. All Terrain 4wd Club, etc

When: 6/7th Feb. 2010

Where: The Springs, Vic. ( near Walhalla )

More Details go to our website: www.navrun.com.au

Remember 100% of everything received will go to the Anti Cancer Council Relay for Life

Here is the Format :

· Day One will be old traditional Navrun style. You are given a stack of waypoints and as many photographs. With your on board GPS navigate your way to that location on bush tracks, identify which photo was taken in that spot, replicate the photo using your team vehicles and people and also using your own digital camera. You will be scored on the number of correct images you show us at the end of the day.

· Day Two will be like Pursuit or Pajero Challenge format. You will be given a series of track co-ordinates which you must enter and exit in given directions, thus establishing a pre-set route. The tracks will present you with challenging terrain as well. There will be questions on your sheets to answer and given you are observant enough and have navigated your way along the correct route the team with the most correct answers wins that stage.

The Day one and day two scores are combined to establish overall winners, etc.

Remember this is a charity event. Not only are there trophies for best event placings but also donated prizes and rewards for the teams who generate their own contributions at home before the event by raising funds under their own steam. Such ideas are group fishing charters where everyone pays an extra amount to attend, ebay auctions of unwanted goods (garage sale style), hit up the BOSS for a donation, etc etc.

The old saying goes like you only get out what you put in. The people who get involved with this are going to have a really great time in a fun not really competitive and family 4WDing scene and it all goes to a fabulous cause.

Are you ok Doodle fish?????? giving something away?????

Wonders will never cease!

Had a thought that i discussed with Nicci the other day doodle....

How about instead of giving five point penalties for speeding and route infringments you give $5.00 penalties.

You could also find a volunteer to drive the course as a "Travel Police" and if they come across you you have to give them $5 to continue..
Just make a limit of 10 penalties per team so the expense doesn't get out of hand.. it's for a good cause, i don't think most people will mind..
Just a thought on gathering a few more dollies for the cause...?????
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
I don't like this idea.... forced donations? Fund raising is a charitable thing, meaning that people give what they feel is right, and also what they can afford, not what you are forcing them to give you. So what happens if somebody simply can't afford to pay $5 each time the "Travel Police" decide to drive past them?
Rum injected

TD42T shorty... got some bolt on and some custom stuff.

Read about it here!

I hear what you're saying marin. But...
This is a charity event, as mentioned there would be a limit of ten paid penalties per team. Therefore before the event you factor in an extra fifty dollars. Every competitor would know and would be asked to bring ten five dollar note with the expectation of using them.
Asking for an extra fifty dollars i don't believe is out of the rhelms. A navrun will cost you $500 to do, all told, so asking for an extra 10% is not a massive ask for a CHARITY. If you don't like the idea of donating the don't attend a CHARITY event.
This idea has been used in many and varied CHARITY motorsport events for years. It's a great fun way of raising funds.
You've got ten weeks.. put an extra five bucks a week away for it
