Has anyone ever spotted, on the web somewhere, a list of the bolts found in and around various Rover V8s?
I would like to replace all the visible ones - rocker covers, plenum, etc - with stainless cap screws. The people who sell "kits" for obvious reasons don't list exactly what threads and lengths they all are.
I just thought this might be something where someone somewhere has already created a list for the job.

I only want it for the dress-up stuff, eg plenum, rocker covers. Besides they are being screwed into alloy anyway! Although the water pump is debatable, the original bolts get corroded in really badly.me3@neuralfibre.com wrote:Stainless is soft for bolts.

Interesting. So I should prefer ordinary steel since I'd prefer to have corroding bolts than corroding engine parts? Funny I always thought boating type people used stainless and alloy together but it seems I'm wrong.schuler wrote:Chimpy,

BTW I am pretty sure most of the threads on the RV8 are not metric, could be wrong there as well though.

Yep all rover threads are either british corse or fine and using either zinc or black bolts are the go dont put staino in alloy .
I brush on silver anti seize to stop them rusting and so they dont bind and its good for 200deg there abouts
