Manual to Auto Conversion GQ

Post by Weapons Grade »

Decided that the comp truck needs to go from manual to auto. I've sourced a 93 auto box from a TB42E with all the bits including the full wiring harness, control box, shifter etc.

Problem is the Patrol is a 91 carby. I'm not interested in having the auto operate in Drive - I only need to be able to select 1 or 2 or reverse - it's trailered everywhere and will never go above 40 kph.

So what needs to be conected other than the shifter and the temp sender light (probably go a temp gauge later)?

Does the inhibitor switch need input from the control box for the auto to operate in 1 or 2? I'm after the simplist setup possible.

Or is it easier to obtain the throttle position senor for the carb and wire it up like a non efi (if so, does the control module change - I assume there is a control module for carb autos)

Cheers

after all kinds of hassles putting a t400 in my cruiser I just picket it up from the auto shop today with a full manual kit in it.......I would be seeing if you can get a manual kit for the nissan box, first impressions of the manual kit is great, I think it will be great for offroad.....1st is 1st, will hold no matter what etc for the t400 it cost me $500 drive in drive out
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
