Suspension Stuff Challenge 6th Feb 2010 Round 1
The challenge will begin. The debate is over the new rules are now up and as always are subject to change if Brenden wants.
Last year was a great success and this year will prove to be better with some great ideas for new mid month competitions being shared with me.
All entry costs will be $50 per vehicle for each class.
Suspension Stuff 4x4 Club/Forum Challenge
SPECIFICATIONS
STOCK CLASS
Maximum 2” Lift – 10 point penalty for every inch above
31" Tyres Maximum 5 point deduction for 32’s on each track and 10 point deduction for 33’s on each track
Must be registered
Any car can compete in this class if the driver doesn’t feel comfortable driving in the next class. Brenden will decide on the penalties and if the car is substansially modified the driver may not be eligible for the prize.
No Lockers. If the car comes standard with an LSD good luck and have fun driving after all it’s a stock class if the factory was smart enough to build it that when then you were smart enough to buy it

STREET MODIFIED
Maximum 4 inch lift (including body lifts)
Maximum 33 inch tyres

& you want to compete.
you would obviously have to go in the modded class against the guys that can use 1 locker & 1 LSD 34" tyres & 4" lift.

or is a truck with no lockers at all just suspension & tyres create such a threat to the locked trucks that it warrents a 20point penility per stage.???

Do you understand the difference between an outlaw and buggy/truggy???
Rhett and Brett are truggy not outlaw. Generally such things as modified floor pans and bonnet area, no mechanically attached steering, and major chassis modifications are just some of the stuff that separate the too classes. Basically if you can't blue plate it then its a major mod and then you have a truggy. Often both classes are more than capable of running similar courses but the buggy/truggy should have BIGGER bonus lines.

The reson for the penalties is because you need to cater for a number of different set up cars. If eveyone did the same mods then that would be fine but it doesn't happen. We will sort your points out so just come and have a drive.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee averaged the best in the modified section with just the Limited slip on the rear with 32" tyres. I think I won because the Jeep was so strong and the other vehicles keep breaking

80 Series ute 4.5L,3" exhust, 4"lift , f&r air lockers, snorkel, duel batteries, 35"MTZ's, sliders,12000lbs winch, beer fridge and extra's
11evl you are beginning to know me better than my wife. YOu have it in one. The buggies and outlaw. Sorry for the copy and past error there wasn't going to be a Truggies class but due to the fact we look like having 5 rigs we'll have the 3 classes. We'll run all 3 classes on the same track like we did in Dec. Once we get more than 6 cars competitng in the same class we'll then split the tracks.

"question" just a thought, and there might be more to this than i thought, but instead of having a limit on the lift, why don't we have a standard clearance measurement, like under the chassis rails. i know it's my fault for buying a jeep, but a 3inch lift on a patrol compared to a jeep is a big difference in chassis clearence, if that makes sense? any thoughts?
All this whinging on here is getting quite old. The rules brenden has established, in my eyes, are rather fair. They cater for almost all of vehicles out there on the tracks... Its just the minority on this forum, that are gonna ruin it for everyone. If you dont feel that your car it to the max of the rules, then either do the modifications, or suck it up and compete with what u have got.
And when it comes to the outlaw/buggy/truggy comments... Seriously guys, its getting pathetic. I think we should all just run what we bring. For us, it more to put on a show, and just get some wheeling time in. I think there is a need to open the tracks up a little bit, to make them a bit less damaging, and attract more rigs. But this has already been addressed with brenden. Who cares if you have half a chassis, rear steer, portals, hydro whatever... Each setup has its advantages and disadvatages.
Everyone needs to support brenden, shane and all of the other organisers, and stop worrying about winning. We have to look at the big picture. There is a chance for this event to bring a whole new light to the sport. With the amount of positive media coverage this event, and the park is getting, it wont be long until we see bigger and better things.

sorry if it sounded like i was complaining? obviously not as smart as some to decifer the rules 100%. brendan and shane have been more than accomidating with the rules when i did my first comp few weeks ago, and willing to answer any stupid questions we (I) had. i like the 2 wins and pass it on rule, sounds very fair. understandably the rules have to stop somewere, and i think they have come up with a good comprimise to suit most. looking forward to doing a whole series next year.
