NH: Wont return steering wheel to centre (When turning right

Post by morgish »

Hi Guys,

Had mass steering play in my NH 91 Pajero. Have today replaced the steering box with a second hand item. The steering play is gone and everything is fine bar turning right.

When I turn to the right the steering wheel will only return 80% of the way. Making me still turn right. I have to move the wheel back by hand.

I drove around for a fair bit, so their shouldn't be any air in the lines etc.

Is this a alignment issue?

Would the adjustment screw on the steering box help? How do I go about adjusting this?

Are castor rods adjustable on the NH? Could it be a warn castor bush on the right rod?

Many thanks for any help :D

Is the new box known to be ok?

And did you reconnect everything, whilst it was in the straight ahead position, including the steering box?
Four wheels (Driving) good, two wheels bad.

NP Pajero with added goodness..

Wot he sed.

If you take your hands off the wheel at straight ahead, does it want to steer right?
