fuel economy for nissan patrol rb 30

guys
just wondering what fuel economy every one is getting out of there patrols as mine is only getting 200kms per tank and yet the car is running fine.
im guessing a fuel leak but i just want to know what you can get out of them other wise she might be up for sale

Full loaded in 4hi driving with no worries of fuel use 24 litres per hundred. Unloaded driving nicely 12 litres per hundred. normally 15-19 litres per hundred

rb30 engine, 4.6 diffs, 35 tyres, carby restricters removed

well i just made the trek from melbourne to the gold coast in my patrol (rb30, 4.3 factory diff ratios, and 31inch a/t's for the drive) while towing a grossly overloaded trailer and got an average of 21L/100km...keeping in mind, it's due for a big service (oils, filters, plugs, leads etc) and my exhasut has practically no back pressure due to the huge holes in it

for normal driving during the week on 35's i get about that same fuel economy.
will be bolting on extractors and 2.5inch exhaust in the next few days, puting 35's back on and will do the service too and while doing that i will finally pull the carby off to get rid of the restrictors...so figures will change again soon.

Run it physically dry. I found i was getting only 200klms to a 95L tank, rb30, standard exhaust manifold/exhaust and carby. Got another 3-400ish klms when the needle was on empty.

Have checked the sender unit in the tank. Still haven't figured this one out. Learnt to live with it.

usally means a hole in the float (happend to me) or a incorectly ajusted one

best thing you can do to rectify the rb30 carby problems is to rip it out and put efi gear in

mine will be getting this in the new year

no more looking at hills and having the carby empty itself

thanks guys i think i will be going to get the efi on it, cant afford to put fuel in this and my prado

is it worth finding i turbo vl motor and putting it in??

just turbo the motor you have.
i had/have a turbo conversion kit which is currently in Melbourne, as i was going to do the conversion, but plans have changed and seeing as im currently unemployed (just moved back to the gold coast) it needs to go.
its for sale on here somewhere if you're interested.
that being said, do it! i wish i could convert mine...but such is life.
even look at doing a straight gas setup with it as well

Been looking for a turbo conversion for mine for a while now (mainly on the calaisturbo website but its been useless!). I couldnt find a link to your kit you had for sale, would you be able to Pm me about it? im running straight gas at the moment and love it but it just needs that bit more poke.

I was getting around 300km out of mine that was with extractors, 2 1/2 exaust, 35's, base-plate removed, and timming advanced to around 20btdc.
i ended up ripping the petrol carby and manifold off, removed all emissions crap and fuel tank, sourced an injected r31 skyline manifold with throttle body, pluged up the injector holes, and just running 225 mixer with b2 converter and 110 litre tank, best thing ive done, getting around 350km from a tank and costs around $35-$40 to fill (cant exactly run it dead empty...). With petrol i was always having troubles with my car cutting out on steep inclines when 4x4ing, due to either the pump not pumping enough to the carby or the fuel filter blocking up ( i think with the rpm's i was using it was emptying the carby to quick) but since being on gas i haven't turned back.

what is the base plate that you have removed and what is it for?

the base plate is just a restricer as far as im aware.
never got round to taking mine out...perhaps i will do that this arvo

The base plate contains a restriction ring and a heating element, my guess is the heating element is to try an atomize the fuel better? made mine go alot better once it was ripped out
