I am looking to buy a 1997-2000 Landcruiser, probably petrol /auto 4.5 as I will be using it as daily driver and for towing a car trailer on regular interstate trips, will probably never leave the bitumen.
There seems to be many available or around $15-18K but my first concern is to find a specialist in the Strathfield/Parramatta area who can undertake a pre-purchase inspection and then look after the car
Can anyone give me some names
I have seen some which are cheaper but have around 300k's what would a a better choice a cheaper car (provided body OK) and spend the savings on the car if and when needed or a low mileage more expensive version.

Pre-purchase Inspection most suitable choice

If you are using it for daily driving and towing on the odd weekend etc, the turbo diesel is going to cost a little more to buy, but is going to be alot more efficient on fuel, and handle towing whatever you throw at it alot better.
Sorry cant help with the pre purchase.
I'd take it a large chain servo or NRMA etc for pre purchase as they give them a good look over.
The most you can afford with the lowest k's is "usually" best.

NRMA will be the go. I worked in and ran the RAC version of the Vehicle Inspections Dept in WA and they are basically the same Inspection. I have met with the NRMA guys and they seem switched on with many being automotive enthusiasts themselves so they take pride in what they do.
Only thing would be to make sure you can get it onto some uneven terrain to make sure the 4X4 side of things works properly, even if your not taking it off road in the near future.
