Are you coming out tomorrow arvo? It appears that Brenden has softened it up a bit and the harder bits will be the creek you walked.

Shane
Yeh mate. But only in the old boys car, coz mine needs a bit of tlc.
We will probably head out at about 2.30, and i think 11evl is leaving around then too.

Haha, I thought I was sending Havoc racing a private message. Did I say Brenden was soft.

Simcoz are you bringing a capable vehicle, if so I would like to catch a ride with someone. Bad leg at the moment.

I would suggest that it will depend on who registers first. I think we will need heaps of reserves because some after checking out the course or not getting the vehicle prepped in time might want to pull out. Either way Brenden will do what he thinks is best.

Wow, wow, wow. What a great track. I can't stop smiling.

We have pictures of a few creek runs although we didn't get time to go to the longest creek run today.

I am pretty sure that this comp will be the hardest, hard core speed comp in Australia, maybe the world.

I have thought it, now I am going to say it. The winner of this comp in my book will be the best hard core wheeler in the country.

If you are still racing after 10 hours, I will shake your hand and call you a legend.

Well Brenden should have some pics up soon.

Happy new year everyone, may it be your best year so far. 2010.

Cheers

This is where we will start but there are 2 alternatives for the start.

This is where you drop into Creek 2. It is a bit steeper then this because we winched 11 evil down which drops the back down. After the first attempt we were confident that he could drop down without the winch but so much to do with little time we moved along.

http://photoshack.com/displayimage.php?pos=-37714

Image
This is an alternative start, you will be given a choice.
Image
We might accidently leave a parked car on the left hand side of the pic. So far we are just on the main creek that everyone knows.
When we do the next climb we will do a 90 degree turn out of the creek and head to the top of the ridge.
Image

After we climb these step ups we will do a sharp left as I said. It is going to be a big loop, we will actually be coming down this creek on the way back, this creek goes for a couple of k and we got no photos of this creek, everyone knows where it is so you can see for yourself.

The start was not designed to stop cars and the area above is a great place to start and finish as there is heaps of room for around 40 cars.

The photo's are of the small to medium rocks.

Yeah, this creek starts at the office and goes for a few K's, you can't miss it. If you have lockers you won't have any probs although I haven't been right down the end.

I put this photo up so you know where to turn off the creek. You should be able to floor it up here unless it gets rutted out by the start of the event.

This photo is about 100m from the previous photo

I am going to call this vehicle the Hulk. His son has the Spiderman buggy.

They needed to back up and go harder, if it rains on the day it could be tricky.

This is 11 Evil with pedal to the metal.

We then drive to the top of the ridge. Wherever there is a steep drop off it will be speed limited.

We then drive accross the ridge for few k's.

Brenden suggested 15km/hr when there is drop offs over the 2way. Michael in the zook was happy with that. I think it was as fast as 11Evil would go anyway. The speed section is bumpy, this section will separate the good suspension setups from the not so good.

Image

This pic is taken from the far corner of the park.

Image

From here you go down some steep sections for about a km. No photos of this section

so what do you do if there is a broken $hitbox stuck in front of you during the comp? can you drive over them without a penalty, or do they have say 30 secs to move or DNF or does an official keep track of your lost time and take it off at the end?? nothing would be more frustrating then driving your butt off to get a time buffer and then be held up in a traffic jam and lose any advantage. Otherwise you may as well just cruise around in a pack like a sunday drive - booaaarrrrring.....

I see in your website shane that you are after someone to make a DVD. Whether i race or not i'm happy to make the DVD for you.

Even if i can't make it up for the race i can cut and edit any footage you send me.

Here are some of the things that you will need to consider when tee-ing up people with camera's

1. Footage should be in DV-AVI format or HiDef DV-AVI. It's better for me to have the original tapes.
2. You should aim for at 10-15 cameramen who should be briefed on the kind of shots that i want to try and get, ideally close to the action (and therefore safety briefed)
3. Camera's unless vehicle mounted should ALWAYS be tripod stabilised or run on a FigRig mobile stabiliser (which i can send people instructions for how to make). Hand footage is of absolutely NO value for final cut productions.
4. Be prepared to fork out about 20-70 bucks each for roll cage or glass mounts for vehicle mounted cams. 2-3 of these would be good.
5. Cameramen should be prepared with at least 10 hours worth of tapes, head cleaner tapes (for dusty conditions) and a spare battery or ability to run off a 12v mobile power source.
6. head cleaner tapes should be run for a minute or two EVERY tape change, especially in dusty conditions.

If people have any questions about getting good footage feel free to PM me, otherwise i would want to have the opportunity to brief the cameramen on desired shots before the race.

Send me a PM brendan or Shane so we can chat further about it if you want. Or Shane, you've got my number, give me a call anytime.

As mentioned before there is plenty of passing area's on the track. The tightest area would be 1 section that has 2 drivable lines and if they are blocked you would just winch up between them.
This isn't going to be a Sunday drive and a Sunday drive car will not be allowed to enter.

I didn't see anything about it being a TT. AFAIK in KOH if your stuck behind a shit box it still affects your time. Look at any endurance event, many a win has been lost due to back markers.
