mid 80's Jackaroo turbo diesel

Post by Dopefish »

Hey, I'm thinking of purchasing a turbo diesel jackaroo.
It's currently running but has got worn valve stem seals that makes it blow blue smoke when you start it.

A) Is this serious?
B) What's the time frame this needs to get fixed in?
C) How much would this cost to get fixed?

Also it's running without a turbo at the moment as the turbo is broken. Apparently the oil seal is stuffed.

A) Do these run alright without a turbo in order to drive it home etc?
B) How hard is this to fix?
C) How much would it cost to fix/replace?

Thanks guys. please help a newbie.
