from what i know, the grand vitara and vitara chassy is pritty close. So i would assume they would be interchangable, but please dont take my word. Keep a measuring tape in your pocket and the next time you see a grand vitara at the local shops sneak a peak at the spring perches.

As for shock, i am running commodore shocks in the rear of my vitara. They have done the job well, and for the price im pleased.

what spring is that commodore shock going with? and do u know the length of it, i just dont want the commodore shock to be too long so that the spring falls out at full down flex.

and the dimensions of the GV and vit springs are promising.
GV rear is 360 long as compared to the vit at 335 long. this would mean slightly more down travel and possible slightly more lift. everything else is the same, they both have an inside diameter of 82mm, wire thickness of 12.5mm. the GV has 10.75 turns while the vit has 9.7 turns which means the GV will have a slightly softer ride and being 25mm longer might give and extra 20mm lift. so instead of a measly 30mm lift which the vit raised springs give i could be looking at getting 50mm lift which is better.

a OME in the front with a 15mm spacer and perfecto...50mm legal lift.

im running commodore shocks with lifted king springs in the rear of my SWB. i vagely remember the king springs being slightly longer than standard when out of the car. when fully flexed the spring nearly falls out, ive zip tired them in just in case.

if thats the case the GV springs are 25mm longer than the ones u put in so they should just stay in with the commodore shock.

are the commodore shocks heavy duty ones or standard and do they give a nice ride?

i got them from a wercker in the hope that they would be softer than new ones. but they are harsher than stock. They may work better for you as you have a LWB.

yeh i reckon they would work well in your case in terms of legnth. however im pretty sure you need to extend your bumpstops to stop them from bottoming out, i havent dont this but i should

there are a few length of como shocks mine are 150mm longer then stock(garbriel 69812)
i have 40mm bumpstop spacer and td gemeni front coils about 3in lift
this is very soft it flexes very well but im thinking of getting custom 5 in coils made and some stiffer shocks to try and stop some body role i have 4in lift at the front now using standard spings and spacers but i had v6 gv coils which gave 3in lift

is that v6 GV coils in the rear that give 3inch lift? coz they are only 25mm longer than the vit lifted ones which give 30mm lift so i dont know how they end up being and extra 45mm over the vit lifted ones? also they are the same wire thickness and have more coils so they wouldnt compress and LESS than the vit ones, maybe a little softer.

also extending bump stops means less travell so i want to try and avoid that. Rancho said they can make the shock to any length for what i need and its $200 each for the 9000 adjustables. i will go that way if commodore shocks are too long.

ah that makes sense...

i will run 215/75 muds on road and offroad in the bush and i have a set of 235/75 road tyres i will use in the sand. they are bearly legal which is why i wont use them as my everyday ones. the muds are 70-80%.
