hi there im going to chop my gq behind the "c" pillar to make it a dual cab im lookin for info and pics from any one who has done this as a home project as im not willing to part with 6 to 10 grand as i have been quoted. i met a fella at willowglen (smitty , i think) who said he had a thread on outers but cant seem to find it . yes i have seen older threads on this subject but not enough info and pics . any help will be most appreciated , i want it done prior to 4x4 masters starting so i havnt got too much time

Don't want to be a smart arse but if you cut it behind the "B" pillar it will be a singlecab. It's the "D" pillar which is last on a dual cab. Sorry
Just get a single-cab cab and cut the rear section out and use that.
People have successfully done it themselves but it is a lot of work and not easy to line it all up.
I'm sure other people on this forum will have more input though.

He didnt say "b" He said behind the "c" pillar which would make it a dual cab!!!!!
The easy way is just go the flat wall back which looks pretty ordinary,
The nicest way is to find a factory rear wall off something that will fit and cut that into the new rear wall.
Then decide on wether you want a tube style rear end or a style side.

It is easy to line up, you just have to measure from a point on the cab that is the same on both sides to give a reference point. Ute rear walls are not the best for dual cabs as you will have to cut most of it off to suit the floor and around the wheel arches. The ute roof has 5 ribs and the wagon has 6, so the roof section will need grafting from the wagon roof forward to get the ribs to line up.
The Cutting part is easy, the panel work is a bit fiddly but not hard either. The hardest part is finishing the inside with the trim. I would use under bonnet sound proofing, the sticky backed stuff, then glue out door carpet over it.
Any dual cab/extra cab cut pictures will be sufficient for information. Search the members section, there should be heaps of pictures on either one. Make is not really an issue either as its the same process just a different shape.

thanks mate ,i was lookin at maybe (still unsure) at doin it ute back and just use the window frame as my lines and either weld or re hinge or even remove back doors . it looks simple enough and a bit different to the rest . i have a plan to include original hood lining and marine carpet

i did one on on my brothers car just before willoglenn i used a tailgate of an 85 pathfinder and cut it down for the rear wall and then added metal to it so then he has a full size window that opens up like a tail gate and also reskined the large rear door. My mate and i have started a litte on the side company doin the cuts and barwork ill put some pics of the cut up we do the cuts for around the $3500 mark if your interested

my buddy has done one, he used the rear tailgate from a 60 series, the same thing i used to fill the back in on my old lwb stylside, not much fab needed, you get a pretty big window with dimister and a pretty common window for easy findings,
