Engel Fridge Thermometres
Has anyone had any luck with these radio transmitting thermometres that are supposed to read your fridges temperature? I've played around with two and the only time that the temperature can be read is when the transmitter is alongside the receiver. I've also tried new batteries. I'm also wondering how the temperature in the fridge would affect the performance of the batteries.

mine wouldn't work at either. it only showes the ambient temp?? i have tried new batteries and stuffed around with placement too.is the transmitter meant to be in the fridge or on it ??

I have one I got with my fridge, was a bit like you describe to start with. Probably a communication issue. There's a reset button on them somewhere, fixed my problems. The transmitter goes inside the fridge. Battery life of the transmitter is unlikely to be seriously compromised IMO.
---> insert witty remark here <---
The only part that goes in the fridge is the temp sensor.(this is the little black button looking piece on the end of the wire) The transmitter is inside the box that goes on the outside of the fridge.
In saying this ive got one and i could not get the remote display to work either but i still use the fridge mounted unit and its been running now for at least 2 years without needing the batteries replaced.

Yeh as Uppy says, you shove the transmitter box inside the fridge, it has no wires.
I have one also, the guy who sold it to me says he has the fridge in his garage with the transmitter, and has the reciever sitting on his loungeroom table and it still reads. I tell ya what, his garage must be half a foot from the loungeroom with line of sight between the tx/rx through windows.
They have shithouse range.

its a bit useless ay. it would be hand to have it work for long tris to see how the fridge performs but ah well. its not worth the time and effort to get anew one sent over

Had the same problem with mine only reading ambient temp. Try removing the batteries from both units, turn the receiver on first and then the sender. Should work, the sender transmits every 3 mins, if it doesn't work then take it back.

You could be right. I just checked mine and its actually a Two Zone brand It has a unit that mounts to the outside of the fridge that is about the size of a deck of cards with one wire and a temp sensor that is mounted inside the fridge unit. It also has a digital Temp readout on it. And then a seperate Remote unit that gives Ambiant and the Fridge Temp but i could never get this to work so just use the Fridge mounted unit on its own.UPPY wrote:The engel remote one does not have any wires on it, and the transmiter is about the same size of a deck of cards. It just sits in the fridge and is suppose to send the signal via a radio frequency every minute to the recever.
