chewing spark plugs.....

Post by tna racing »

G day guy's and girls, have a patrol with a rb30turbo in it, running straight gas (no injection) ,9mm ice ignition leads, ice ignition coil (one of the best he does) re curved and retarded dizzy (professionally done) now every service we have to change the spark plugs, due to the fact it starts missing.

what could be causing this?

we are going to try split fire spark plugs soon (recommended) but still unsure!

cheers Adam

Have you been gapping the plugs before installing them?

What brand and model plug are you using?

Throw up a pic of one of the tips for us too!

Joel @ PGS would be the guru here - no doubt he can tell you what plug and gap (if applicable) to run.

All the other stuff i've bought from them has been awesome. I fitted some of these to my patrol last week and it fixed the miss it had:

So they have had a probe in the water jacket to measure with detonation sensor then ?

Detonation happens 5-7 deg before you can actually hear it.

If they were the wrong heat range, they normally crack the porcelain around the electrode as well, which can cause the misfire.

What sort of air intake temps are you seeing post intercooler ?

Try bcpr not bcp resistor type before spending heaps on split fire plugs. R meaning resistor
