Hi all, I wanted to find out what the difference is between a TC05 turbo (off an early, non-intercooled 4D56) and a TD04 (off a 1990 intercooled 4D56)?
I own a 1990 NG Paj, and I have been told that my turbo is leaking oil badly. Having just driven about 4000km in the last few weeks, i'm wondering what needs doing to the turbo? Is this really a problem?
The reason I asked about the different turbos is because sitting in my garage is a TC05 turbo which was completely rebuilt in 2005, and only used for 50-100,000km. If I was to fit this turbo to my intercooled 4D56 what would happen? Is it smaller than the TD04? Would I loose power or boost?
Just so you know, I have a 2.5" exhaust and an upgraded fuel pump to cope with the 12psi turbo boost (increased from 8psi)?
Any help would be apprieciated! Thanks, Sam
