is either one of you planning on going out again in the near future...i can probably get out in a couple of weeks for a run if you are interested...
like i say if i have to winch then count me out..i am not taking the risk of having a winch sitting 2 foot from me spooling under that sort of weight..there is nowhere safe to mount it on here
sure i have one mounted just in front of my seat to pull the front suspension down but it isnt under that sort of strain

I am tied up with radio controlled RC stuff on the 30th Jan and then there is only the TT scrutineering, which should be at the end of the month. Shortly after that the truck will come of the road, I want to get the turbo’s sorted and start tidy up for TT10.

Shane Are you for real mate.???
11evel may have driven against the yuri buggys and one of them was a dinosaur as far as buggys go. But when it comes to some of the buggys out there the definetly tuff little zook wouldnt stand a chance.
Apples and Oranges there mate.
If you know anything about the scrapper buggy then could you imagine Sam Or Tony behind the wheel in this comp?? No winch will be needed and they will be scarry quick.
Oh yeah and i dont think Rolly will really like you calling his truck a Buggy
You don't have to defend the capability of a buggy, just about everybody on this forum knows they are capable, it is no secret.
Somebody was questioning 11Evil's capacity to know what they are capable of and in no way did I intend to pretend that his Zook was even close to being as capable, my point was to let people know that he knows what he is talking about.
If you read back through the post you will find that I called Rolly's thing a Truggy and mentioned that he come 4th in Tuff Truck so people will know that he knows a thing or 2 also. No-one pretends that it is a moon buggy.
Also you don't have to defend Tony's and Sam's ability to drive and their ability to know how to set up a 4WD. You just have to read through Pirate to know Sam was teaching the guys in the US how to set up link Suspension back in 2003.
Sam is building another quite simple 4WD but I bet he will be able to compete against some of less well set up buggies.
Now we have got that out of the way and we all agree that moon buggies are capable if set up correctly you can continue to pay out on me and others if you wish.

I wouldn't put my money on a moon type buggy in an event like this. You would need to carry a few spares and maybe a tire this is hard in a tiny buggy. THey might be super capable but they arnt really set up for longer, more speed events- (tail shaft angles and flipped diffs)
You also wouldn't be able to move after spending 10 hours in the scrapper copy or yuris newer buggy for that matter. So fatigue would play a factor as well.
Watch KOH 09 and see all the carnage on the race, it is also good to see how they deal with carrying a spare. A buggy is capable of driving extreme stuff, but flat out for 10 hours would be interesting.
I would be interested to see if anything does finish after 10 hours driven at speed through these conditions. Driver fatigue and vehicle fatigue will play a big part.
I also feel a single seat buggy should go alone, no spotter or nav. Just like Shannon in KOH. No seat, No ride. Havind a running spotter for 10 hours will be awsome to see too.

So i have 5 seats, i can have 4 spotters?
Looking forward to this, just depend on wether my dodgy motor will turn the 42's fast enough.

Suspension Stuff wrote:I have noticed that since I posted the pics up not many people are talking. Does the track seem to hard or something?
is that the hard stages????
hmm...maybe i wont bother about fixinng the lockers in my buggy then
so where are the bits that you are expecting me to winch??
but an actual serious question....have you Shane or Brendan even seen the terrain that a buggy is capable of driving..not talking about a truck like Bretts but a full on buggy...mine is a sh!tter and i seriously cant see too much that would concern me enough to want to put a winch on my car..let alone some of the better buggies or rigs that would be out there..from the pics that whole track looks driveable for my car...like i say that is from the pics and i fully plan on coming out and driving the track in the next few weeks when i can get a spare day..
i will also try and talk someone into bringing the scrapper out..that is a capable buggy that would seriously eat everything imo
dave
Dave, lets us know when your going out for a run, cheers.
This is going to be a fun weekend. There may be a turtle and the hare scenario maybe...??? hopefully my old banga will make it around the track. I am aiming for the " Dude having the most fun award ".
I think a few of us less capable vehicles may come for a weekend to have a look so I dont embarrass myself.

I believe 1 driver and 1 navi, hence the term ENDURANCE EVENT, not the I'm too tired you go for me event.
the event sounds cool hey, deffo a fullbodied comp! tho a a few rock racing styler events would be great to see over here so we can see is these buggy drivers can really drive haha, after watching hours and hours of xrra footage im impressed with those buggies! and i tend to agree with a few these enduro events should be more high speed, maybe look towards some of the big western queensland propertys for more outback events, wouldnt mind seeing a 24hr event start up i recon it would attract many overseas drivers..... providing the prize money would be enough to lol!

So did anyone head out this weekend and try and clear some of that fallen timber of the proposed track? any picks?
and did anyone attempt the mini waterfall?
Comp looks interesting & the ideas seem good. Be interetsing to see how people attack such an event, I don't think you will need to go all out as you will end up DNF'ed by hour 3-4. I believe some level heads are going to be needed & good preperation on vehicles to elilminate the more annoying breakages. Self preservation will be the key.

wondering when the dates and rules will be coming? more the rules for the car as in safety gear
Brenden must be still on holidays or hasn't had time to come into the shop today. Eventually he will come back because I have his 75 Series at the front of the shop. I will put a for sale sign on it.
He had the draft finished ages ago so it shouldn't be too far away.

Depends on what date you choose I may be ready but with current workload commitments I could be struggling. I just need to keep the wife on side so I can keep the hours up in the shed.
We have changed the course a little bit so the new creek run will be totally driven up hill.
Brenden is adding another short creek run also that has a hard rock climb in it. The buggies would love this one, as it goes up it gets steeper and steeper.
We are also shortening it to 8 hours. Because of the staggard start we wanted to make sure the whole race could be run in daylight hours.
I have spoken to Brenden, the rules will be going up tonight.

NOTHING LIKE A HARD DAY AT THE OFFICE AS THE HAND BREAK SAYS
There are still areas that need to be clarified like what if your in the middle of a track that no marshal is near and the front car won't let you pass. We'll be finalising that at the first meeting next month to iron out those sort of question and issues.

Navi has to walk this 5km every lap, holy sheet lol. And how is a 1st gear crawl for 5km going to be policed? (just curious, sounds like an awesome comp) be interesting to see how it fairs for spectators.

I think presenting the car at least one week before hand might be a bit hard for those traveling long distances. Not myself Im only 4hr s tow away but Ive been talking to people willing to drive 10 plus hours.
if i were a spectator id be strapping a cooler bag to my back, arming myself with a machette and heading for the hard creek section with the large ledges then making a little lean to and digging in for 8 hours of metal on rock carnage!! haha
