After searching all the old tech posts etc i couldn't find any pics of under the bonnet on peoples custom snorkels, i really wanna get my own done so can people please post pics of under their bonnet for me so i can see the set up, will use old tech info for the actual d.i.y or you can post that too Seems all the old tech threads are mostly pictureless?

Is there any power benefits in having a snorkel? Does the ram flow of having a snorkel work or its just for show? With my starnard air system it is so restrictive and having a k&n gave it so much more power.
Its a "Snorkel" designed to help with water crossings.... don't expect any power gains. At the absolute best a "Ram Top" might make up for the extra length in the induction system.
IMO stainless snorkels look crap, yes its better than PVC plumbing fittings - but when there are proper ones available why would you consider it ?
Itts not that they are made out out of stainless that gets me, its simply no matter how well done they always look like "plumbing"
Its also not going to do your cars value any good... at least a aftermarket will look like its supposed to be fitted.
IMO stainless is only an option when there's NO aftermarket options.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.
believe it or not but the ram head is just that as it "rams" the extra air into the motor not like a turbo but it does make a difference especially on a turbo diesel as the turbo is sucking the air in but when you put the ram head on it forces air to the turbo so the turbo doesnt have to work as hard and it actually increases fuel econemy on the hiway (where you get the speed to make the best use of the ram head"
we are about to put a snorkle on the missus' turbo diesel rocky so we will be following this thread as well

Have you ever put a manometer on the intake to prove this theory or done the mass/flow calculations........ you will find that's just so much BS.
This is not just my maths, there have been numerous threads on Outers with info provided by professional engineers who actually work in the field.
At best the "Ram" might make up fro a portion of the extra restriction added by all the extra pipework.
Don't get me wrong - a snorkel is a good idea for water crossings and done properly looks sorta cool..... but that's about it.
P.S. i've got an Airflow on my Feroza ( actually prototype No. 0 ) and i'm happy with its quality, fit and operation ( and yes it has a "Ram" ).... and its also on the "correct" side for a RHD setup.
So certainly get one for function ( and looks ) but performance..... NAH !

try real world experience with a turbo diesel cruiser that had an increase in economy from the addition of a "RAM" head snorkel (and quite a remarkable increase in economy i might add)
