Hey guys,
My mate's 85 Hilux has a Surf 2LT fitted and has snapped a timing belt, as assessed by the RACQ bloke who was called shortly after.
I believe these are non-interference motors yeah? Can anyone shed some light on fitting a new belt? I'd like to help out, but if its a massive headache, i'd be more inclined to find a 3L (or 1UZ....) for sale and put that in instead.
Can anyone elaborate?
Cheers
-Dan

2L Timing Belt Snapped...What to do?

Yes apparently they are a none interference motor so technically there shud be no damage. Fitting the new belt isnt to hard if you hav some tools a workshop manual and spare time.
Pretty much pull the radiator and fan/hub out to give you room. Then you take all the other drive belts off, then remove the harmonic balancer bolt and harmonic balancer, then remove the timing cover and replace the belt, tenioner pulley and idler pulley as well as water pump and front main seal while you r there.
All the info is easily found on the surf forum or this one with the search function.
Cheers
