air intake

Post by tanz-e »

i have a science question for all you nissans...
where the air intake meets the side wall, theres a little cavity between the steel the intakes bolted too and a peice of plastic lining that lines the wheel arch.
this cavity helps to create an air bubble under water-for short periods of time- but i did away with the plastic when i cut my gaurds so now, my air intake just takes its air straight from the wheel arch...
im gonna build a little sheild, to protect it from water, at least till it get to the top of the sheild...
Q: if i turn the sheild upside down, would this create an air bubble under water.
would it be better to do this...
or would the engine suck all the air out of the bubble followed by water?

I don't think that the tiny buble will last long under water, I would fit a snorkel ASAP. We ran no inner gaurd while fitting the snorkel to the girls car and it cloggeg the filter with dust very quickly too.

lol, yeah i think your right... i didnt think it would work... but, maybe...lol
i put the sheild on today anyway... the right way up... should help to keep some dust and crap out of it... plus at least the water has to get up ove the sheild before it starts filling my air intake... should get me by at least till i can afford a snorkal...
