choked up

hey just thinking of pulling the whole choke assembly off... as im sure the carby could do fine without it... is this right? if i get rid of it, is it as simple as the carby shall no longer increase the revs until warm? im quite happy for it to sit on 650rpm until then... -has anybody else done this?
it will actually stall on cool-cold mornings.
at idle it will usually start, then run for 2-3 seconds then slow and stall.
to keep it running till it can idle by itself, you will have to give the accelerator light pumps every second. it will sound like a big drag car idling for 30 seconds. then you should be right till it is fully warm.
I had a GQ with a stuffed choke, so i removed it.
also had a few "warmed" over V8's that had no choke due to the Carbies on them (Eagle etc) all did the same thing.

hmmmm.... after a bit more thought im beggining to think its not the choke because the fast idle cam is dissingaged, yet it still holds idle at 1200 rpm. im on holiday so dont really have the time or means to strip it apart and see if somethings holding it open. idle screw adjustments has no affect. it''ll increase but wont drop below 1200.
only running on gas becuase carby got some shit in it awile ago blocking up the mixing lanes... (runs on petrol as if your swapping from petrol to gas-that kinda coughing stumpling run it does)
its probably just the carby shat itself completely... even though its had a complete overhaul no more than a year ago...

When I overhaul the Patrol carbys I always pull the secondary throttle shaft out and give it a good clean as the carbon mixed with the teflon coated shaft causes it to stick. this is generally worse on LPG cars.
If it is a manual the primary throttle shaft might need bushing as well.
Auto ones have a TPS switch on the end of shaft and can not be bushed.
If you need some help with it just PM me .
Cheers Louie
