hilux aftermarket turbo

Post by My Lux »

Hi guys I own a toyota hilux 5L 3.0ltr diesel, I recently bought a turbo kit off a surf, im after any advice on installing it or a good mechanic in brisbane to install it.. I think i could install it myself its just the oil feed and return which are the bother. also money is the main issue, I dont want to pay too much.

Thanks

Do it yourself.

Get a braided feed line made up from pirtek/enzed etc. Tee into the alternator feed.

For the drain, drop your sump and get a fitting brazed on and run a large diameter hose for the oil drain. I tee'd into the alternator drain and it ended up backing up and pushing oil out the back of the turbo to make a lovely smoke screen.

Get an EGT gauge, turn the fuel up, bigger exhaust and away you go.

Or go a 3RZ like I wish I'd done..

Cheers, What model do you have? Have you had any trouble with the turbo being on your car? that was my main worry, something happening to a reliable car. Is it a big job to drop the sump?
