hey guys
just bought a mq ute it was origanlly a turbo diesel but the rings were worn out so they put a non turbo motor in with about 150thou on it. ive got all the standard turbo manifolds, the turbo, oil lines, injector pump,
got a couple of questions
firstly i havnt picked up the car yet but ive got the old turbo block, does the non turbo blocks have the holes for the oil feed line and return or do i have to make that up myself.

also i have the turbo injector pump cause i know the standard pumps are vacum operated, i dont have a workshop manual so i wanna ask how do i time the injector pump to the motor are there timing marks of some sort.

and 1 more thing do i have to change the oil filter housing from the turbo block to the non turbo motor cause they have differet setups and use a different filter

From my experience both motors are pretty much the same. Oilers under the pistons. Heat exchange on turbo motors are a little bigger, post 83 had fine cut timming gears to reduce noise. All items will fit. Yes there is a spot for the turbo oil feed in the N/A block, just above the ALT oil feed. Of Tee into the vac pump feed. Turbo oil drain, is best to keep the 3/4 drain, weld fitting into sump. Although a lot of people tee into the ALT oil drain and never have trouble. BUT If the blown motor was an SD33 just with turbo stuff on it it may have a oil drain already in the sump.

Can fit turbo pump to N/A motor. Once pump advance cover is off the gears are mark with a "Y" or and "X". I think Y for some reason, very hard to see if doing in chassie. need to rotate eng until the 2 marks on the cam gear line up with the 1 mark on the pump gear. May take several revolutions to get to this point. Remove pump and install turbo pump, you will have to remove the drive gear from the pump which is on a taper and may require a puller to be removed.

It you look directly below the fuel inlet of the pump head on the very front you will not a line scribed on the injector pump and also on the timming cover. This needs to be lined up, nissan best if advanced a little bit, top of pump towards drivers side about 2 - 2.5mm

Once this pump is fitted yes do away with the throttle body, but remember to hook up the boost compensator pipe that runs from the back of the intake to the compensator on the rear of the injector pump.

N/A and turbo injectors are the same. Oil filter block can be changed so you have a spin on z149. Will have no dramas with the old cartridge style filter

thanks heaps mate, that cleared everything up for me will put all this together on the weekend and see how i go.
