5 inch lift?any probs i should know about
hey all need some help thinking about pulling my b/lift out and putting a 5 inch lift in it.
are there any inherent problems i should know about b4 i do this.
i have got arms to suit a 4 already and already got panhards.
also im wondering what length shock to use to get the most out of my lift.
cheers mick
i want it to flex better than this

You will have to messure exactly what lift you have after you have put your new springs in. Although they say 5", they could be 4 or even 6" of actual lift. Alow for the springs to settle a bit and adjust castor accordingly. For your shocks just cross it up with out any shocks in it and then messure the shortest points. Then you can decide if you want to extend your shock towers at the front for longer travel or not. There are always problems with big lifts. Ive just redone my front completely for the 3rd time. Im going high steer and lift the panhard rod next in my 80.
hey bloke thanks 4 the reply.TheBigBoy wrote:You will have to messure exactly what lift you have after you have put your new springs in. i might just stick with 4 inch then i dont want to change any of that steering stuff anyway.
im probably gonna go with superior engineering 4 the lift how true would there springs be?
im gonna run there new shock sounds pretty deadly just need $$$$ they gonna cost a bit.
cheers mick
Yep do have to agree on that one, it's a nice looking 80,
Think I have some lights that would fit one of those, anyone interested.
Purchased them some time back for a work van we had but never needed them.
Back to the lift - keeping it legal helps when you need to make an insurance claim, also for re--sale registration.

i got my 80 with 5"lift already in it
ive got my 5" lift on my insurance and i got it rego'd with it there as well
so i dont see a problem with rego and insurance as long as you tell the insurance company up front

main reason is if put a 5 inch lift in it im gaining 3 inchs under chassis towbar etc.udm wrote:so its now got 4". i am wondering if its worth all the work involved just for an extra inch?mick80 wrote:2+2 +35sStruth wrote:Nice 80, how much lift does it have already.

btw lovin the new look mate.
might just go a 4 inch leave b/l in.
its pretty big as it is though itll be a red flag 4 the cops.
but then again once i put sliders / steps on it
it might be ok i mean its a pretty tidy truck.
i have recently been pulled up on two seperate occasions and they didnt even look twice at it.
problem solved leave bodylift in and put 4 inch lift in!!!!!!!
cheers mick
then i can make it flex again like this yippee!
they just poly airs.TroopiePete wrote:Do the air bags actually do anything?
the car in question is a daily driver wich tows a2 ton tandem axle trailer 6 days a week and i also have the lowest load rated springs.
so u put 30 psi of air in them and there is no weight on ur coils.
when you want it to flex let them down to 5
cheers mick
shocks i have no idea as the local 4x4 joint put them on for memick80 wrote:dude sweet how long r ur shocks and tyre size?flyinwall wrote:TroopiePete wrote:

Either your really short or that is really high! Why dont you just pull all the gear off that one or do exactly the same but with 5inch coils??mick80 wrote:hey big boy yeah sick dude it could still go up further but it my tyre was hitting the top off the coil tower.
2dextreme armsfront and rear and x-link.
thats the plan big boy i want it to flex better than this.
