Reading between the lines, I think the two post above yours are saying that TD and Ranchos have somewhat dubious reputations as quality products. Have a browse through this forum and read some reviews.

Out of the two I'd go Rancho. No real reason other than I've had them before and they worked ok.

The bigger question is why you think you want adjustable shocks. I've built cars with Ranchos and run Ranchos on my Gwagen, even dynoing them to prove they'd work, but really, the adjustability is a gimmick.

Honestly. I gave up on adjusting them after a while, nothing other than the settings I dynoed the shocks at to match the factory shock ratings worked.

As per Bogged, Koni, OME or maybe Bilstein.

in my experience neither. as said above adjustables are a gimmik.

i've just gone from TD to EFS from suspension stuff. so far they are working for me, less fade more control IMO

if these ones dont work down the track i will be looking at something with remote reserviors in the belief of more capacity, less heat, less fade, less wear and tear.

I've had Toughdog shocks (were ok standard springs) on when brought
Ironcrap (who bagged toughdog to me)
,spicers springwork all fark it up
I now have EFS from Carrols spring work get it right so thats me.
was considering Rancho's but my understanding there one of the best rockcrawlers suspension wich to me is no good as i love mud

I would prefer a stick, as above choose Koni or the new OME, Bilstein aren't as good as they used to be either.

On topic, I wouldnt choose either as they both have quality issues, theres multiple threads on both, as posted above.
Id go with EFS as they are aussie made(I think), and they are higher quality.
Ive also heard that Raw4x4 is ok as well.
Ive only used EFS on my old 4runner and was really happy with it.

Apparently you can get an OME Sport for the 60 series now, but I dunno about using them with a 3 inch spring AND an extended shackle. I'm looking at the same for my 60 shortly.

No they don't have to be in the same price range, but generally you get what you pay for. I can't see how they are the same (or similar) quality to Koni or Bilstein, you only have to hold them both in your hands and compare the build quality.

Go and try a set... may suprise yourself... just replaced 82's on my GU with OME's. had OME's on the GQ which replaced rancho...

my honnest opinion is that adjustability is pure wank factor, i had toughdogs for 2 years, i now have 3 toughdogs and one in 2 pieces thanks to the piston missing a tac weld so it unscrewed itself and seperated.

i have also heard bad storys of rancho, and seeing as how iirc they come from the same factory, id be steering clear of both, i have heard of ranchos splitting at eyelets etc.

so i would be leaning towards efs elite, koni 88's or if your on a tighter budget ironman foamcell shocks, they cant be beaten for pure value for money
