GEARBOX 4 SUPERCHARGED 5 LITRE

as it says my hilux is forsale as i want something diff but no one wants it in (vehicles 4 sale)

so ive decided on getting a efi holden 5 litre and goona put it in my self.

i can get the motor cheap and i have a charger setup ready, but i have no idea wat box i should go behind it all i have heard is the surf 3.0 td box but i would of still thought that would be to be weak.

it will also be pushing 40'' tyres and planning on running dual tranny's and rear disconnect.


any info appreciated or let me know wat i should watch out for or wont work.

The Surf 5speed R150, R151 & R152 are tough gear boxes.
I run a big HP 355 through my R151 gearbox and it handles it well.
Mates run the R series box with V8's in front of them, also running twin transfers in one.
They handle alot of abuse.

the ausi v6 has the same style box may be esier to find and may have the correct non elec shift for the transfer

when you order the bell housing make sure u order the one for the r series box as its a similar looking shape but bigger

Yep the R150/1/2 series are tough enough.

Surfs will generally have chain driven transfers, which work fine and offer a better low range ratio than gear driven.

SR5 Runners have Chain driven with better low range ratio as well.

RV6 4 Runners have R150F with gear driven transfers (at least I have seen one of these and assume most do as they were a cheaper transfer).

Are there kits for twin transfers for the chain driven model?
as that was in the plan i know u can get them for the gear driven easy using early hilux with the stick out the top of the transfer

one of my trucks has the chain driven case and it does have quite a nice crawl ratio indeed i think its about 2.55 from memory vs 2.2 for the gear driven any one feel free to correct me as i am just remembering from years ago

I don't think you can twin the chain drives.
