Intro and turbo question (4JB1-T )

Post by bighorn »

Hi all,

Been browsing the forums for a while, but just signed up after purchasing a Jack.
Picked up an imported Bighorn "Irmscher", which I believe had a few extra bits and pieces, but most importantly for me it's got the Recaro interior - awesome!

I'll be very forthright in saying I am a novice to the off-road world, and only plan to take baby steps until the sklills/confidence builds.

Just wanting to know what options fellow-owners have made use of when upgrading the turbo? Or perhaps someone can advise what type of flange is on it so I can match up with a Nissan turbo or something similar.

Cheers.

They're an IHI turbo, same brand used on Subarus, not sure what the flanges are...

Thanks Yarno, had done a bit of googling but unable to get info on flange fitment. Will get my brother to remove and visually compare against Nissan offerings - would be great to match up against a OEM Nissan one as they are cheap and plentiful.

Havabigjuan - will tee up some pics & post shortly.

You will probably find that doing an exhaust, boost and fuel adjustments will be all thats needed to make it go. Similar to a Rodeo.

Cheers Andy, definitely on the cards.
Was hoping to get a ball bearing in the game for faster spool.
