Post by tassie wombat »

having thoughts of upgrading the engine in my gq,its currently running a stock 350 chev thats done about 350,000kms,its getting a bit tired!! my thoughts were either a injected 5.7 or 6ltr is there any big advantage(other than more cubes)in the 6 litre compared to the 5.7???

Just rebuild the chev? i'm sure you'd be able to get heaps of performance parts off ebay from the USA. unless you don't like the carby setup and want to go efi

yeah i think either rebuild or maybe a vortec crate motor?? i was just thinking that the price you can pickup a ls1 for it wouldnt have been a bad conversion, but i did some research on the marks adapter site, and id be spending upwards of $6k just for the conversion if i brought most of the stuff to make the job a bit easier and quicker!!

Rebuild with a decent cam, (214/224 degrees at 50 or bigger) upgraded valvesprings, decent intake like an edelbrock and decked block or machined head to up the compression to 9.5. It will cost you alot less than another engine conversion and you'll be surprised with the power
