3.8lt 4runner, Radiator issues, please help
Question,
I've bought a 1990 4runner with a 3.8 vn Holden engine conversion. This is my first modified 4wd and it's proving...challenging.
The radiator (a 22R) needs replacement, I'm wondering if I need to replace it with something beefier or just another 22R.
A number of radiator blokes I've called say the 22R is fine for everything up to a 4.7lt lexus V8.
However none of this changes the fact that the current radiator is cracked and leaking, could this be due to the 22R being too small after all?
Has anyone had experience with this? Any advice would be a huge help.

Thanks for the recomendations,
I have a bit more researching to do I think.
If the 22R stands up it would stand to reason to replace it with a new one, but I'm thinking it needs to be bigger as I had some issues during a 40 degree day in Melbourne and it might be better to cautiously over engineer a bit rather than have it flare up somewhere without a pub to sit at while the engine cools down.
The diesel idea is interesting, anyone know what sort of diesel radiator would be good? I know there was a 2.8lt hilux diesel any idea weather it would be enough? Or should I have a look at the 3lt petrol radiators? I don't think a Holden radiator is an option as it's a bit tight on space at the front.
v8zuki, what motor/model is the 75 landi radiator mates with?
thanks again for all the suggestions

there are 2 rads in the 75ser the core are the same width as the hilux byt are longer ie deeper so check what lenght you have the shorter one fits with no body lift and the longer one fots with a 2" body lift
lengthen the straps on the side and make the spouts to suit off the shelf radiator hoses and its all good
85-90 model 75ser is what you need and a good radiator shop
