Looking for in-line air cleaner
A while ago there was a link posted in here for an in-line air cleaner. It looked similar to a water to air intercooler but inside was a pod filter. A mate needs one as he only has enough room for a pod filter and its pretty hard to hook that up to a snorkel.

I think its a K & N APPLO air filter kit. http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm
let your mate know that most k and n filters dont really have the filtration required for 4wds that travel through dusty areas, he may want to look at getting a pre filter too or look at installing a flat pannel box similar toa commodore one there would have to be some room for that.
Go Hard Or GO Home
I have had a K & N for 5years in a TD GQ, the old man has had one for nearlly ten years and never had any dust go through it. Like all oil filters it needs oil on it to work corectly. The poeple who say thay let dust through must be doing some thing wrong.
Every vehicle in my family 7 in total have a K&N and all do off road work and again we have never had any dust go through even on outback trips, week ends up Land cruiser mountain park and so on.
But like i said thay need to be oiled CORECTLY..

The debate for and against K & N is like Toyota vs Nissan, but in the end I believe they work well if looked after. Motorbikes have been running oiled air filters for years and they work well when you keep the oil up to them.
If we could find some room a commodore air filter or similar would be ideal but there is no room, it has a stupid size turbo and custom water to air intercooler under the hood, room is not an option.
The K&N will be better than what he currently has on there now its a el cheapo supercheap pod filter

Not quite, all the anti K&N threads I have seen are full of factual data to back up the poor filtration claims, whereas the Toyota/Nissan argument if full of opinion and emotion.Kramer wrote:The debate for and against K & N is like Toyota vs Nissan,
I am not going to hijack this tread any more that that, but I will say that if it works for you, go for your life.

Toyota and Nissan suck!!..droopypete wrote:And Toyota's are way better than Nissan'sRed Dog 4x4 wrote:So true... every body likes what thay like..
K@N's do work well, they definately don't filter as effectively as a paper element. But they do flow a heap better.
The secret is in keeping them clean and oiled. Some 4x4s' are more suited to K@N than others. Over oiling will play havoc with MAF sensors (If your rig has one).
I've run flat replacement type K@N's and POD type filters for years, and the only problems I've had with filtration has been my fault.... too lazy to clean and oil.. I now service the filter after any dusty trips or 3000k's..
