what is the problem when the sub tank doesnt work? when you push the sub tank button the light comes on but doesnt pump from sub to main? is there a fuse or a relay or would it be the pump?

Try disconnect the battery for an hour or so. Check the fuse panel.

some early ones needed an earth from the pump bracket to the transfer case to be fitted.
mine worked fine after that ... well at least until the pump blew up a few years later.

the pumps are a common item to fail, btu dont bother with Nissan for a price...

The other 2 ideas are good, battery and GU's have shit earthing from factory, some people add 3-4 body/chassis leads.
