2 inch suspension in an 80

Post by YN67highlux »

hey guys,
a mate just got an 80 with a 6 inch suspension lift. within 12 hrs of owning it he has a appointment with the DOT,hes got to get new suspension anyway and im trying to convince him to just stick with 2 inch suspension and maybe a small bodylift to keep it legal. he wants to fit 33s when hes offroad. can anyone tell me the best set up "as far as shocks and bumpstops go". hes got about 2500 to spend. pics of good setups would be great, tried bible and search but most info is on 3' on larger witch is illegal in qld. hes into moderate 4x4ing nothing to extreme so i think 2' would be fine with right setup
any help would be appreciated

HAHA did you laugh at him, call him a city gutter jumper and ask him why he wanted to lift it 6inchs to run 33's off road, you can do that with standard suspension.

Put the 33's on, buy a air locker with the suspension money and drive more than he would have with his skyscraper :P.

haha, i dont know how it got past roadworthy. he has only just bought it, it came with 35s and 6''. now is the drama of changing it to something legal as dot pulled him up as soon as he got into town. this is my thorts also. 2'' and lock it..... no suspension movement req'd.

For around $1000 he should be able to get himself a EFS/Dobinsons etc 2" lift kit, you guys fit on a weekend then spend the left over money on a locker or winch etc. That's what I would do.

2 inch coils with 40mm bumps front and rear will fit 35's and with the right length shocks will probably out flex his penis extension, even with sway bars attached. It will also attract less attention, be more stable and arguably more capable.

You can fit a 33 on a standard 80 with 300k old springs with little to no clearance issues if he realy wants to go back to 33's.

I dont beleive in body lifts unless they are entirely necessary eg sprung under leaf sprung cars where u cant get clearance and wheel travel any other way.

Tell him to spend the money on a rear locker and a set of rock sliders if he doesnt already have them.
