"A" pillar gauge pod holders for 80 series

Post by fester2au »

For you guys that were chasing these a while ago from that other thread/forum where someone was looking to make a mould and get some cast.

I was talking to the owner of On Track 4WD Centre Moss St Slacks Creek Bris 07 32902533. He has some in stock for GU's and F250's that he had moulded up and cast locally by a plastics mob. He reckons he can get them done for the 80 and all he really needs is the original plastic trim moulding to make a copy from. Issue is if he was to do so it would be only in black and only in a 3 guage combo as he has done for the others (obviously to rationalise design and production costs). Then again if a heap contacted him with interest in only a 2 gauge combo maybe he would consider than, who knows.

I would expect from the way he was talking about the set up cost and amount of profit generally in them that they would probably be in the vicinity of about $120 to $150 but maybe a huge group buy could sway him. Apparently set up could be around $500ish and with very little profit in each one it takes a while to get costs back, that's his words and is possibly based on the others he did so not sure how that relates to 80 series demand.

Anyway I'm not actually interested in one so I did not go into any detail on the quality or what interest it would take him to get interested just thought I post for those that are really interested as I recall huge interest in the original thread which seems to have stalled.

Maybe someone close to the shop could start a group buy senario or maybe everyone interested could bombard him with expressions of interest and it may happen. Over to you.

x2

i have been watching ebay ect... and there is little or no options for an 80.

even at that price, i think it's still better than getting one for a ford/gu/whatever and chopping it up to fit.

three pod would be the go.

cheers

Didn't realise you were doin them too Mark, the one I was referring to was a guy on offroad80's. He'd got as far as mocking up a clay single but it never got any further. You should get this going for your retirement fund you should see the interest that was on Lcool ;)

By the way the gy I spoke to in Brissie and advised in first thread has been followed up by a few on lcool but he's gone cold on the idea or was just blowing wind up my arse as he's not interested.

I wish one of you would get it done. I would buy one tomorrow if it was available.
Might have to look into doing a mould up myself I think.
