TD42 GQ box into GU???

Post by mr nismo »

Is it possible to fit a GQ gearbox from a td42 into a GU? I know that the shifters are in a different position, but are they the same box apart from that and can the shifters be changed or something to make the box fit properly?

I have never measured it but i believe the shifter will not change and the floor in a GU will need to be modified to allow the GQ box to go in

It's easier to put a GU box in a GQ because the GU shifter (BOTH OF THEM) are about 45mm further back.
The GQ shifters will be 45mm further forward than the GU ones already are but you'd probably only have to mod the shifter boot metal cover like I did, not the trans tunnel. I also had to massage the GU transfer lever a lot to work in the GQ without doing anything to the tunnel.
