before ya shoot me, i'm not gonna ask if it will turn my 31s without needing to cut the guards when i've lowered the zook 2"...
just a quick one, does anyone know for sure if the output rear shaft runs needle roller bearings instead of ball?

found an FSM by zukboys... transfer gear box, 23 pages on x-fer gear box, is that the same kinda thing as u've got?
the gears i picked up have some ripples/ridges/bumps or whatever ya wanna call it on the hard face where the needle rollers (assume that's what u mean by roller bearings?) go.... someone told me that this will cause stuff to break fairly quickly, is this so????? have i picked up a lemon?
did ya end up posting pics of beefing up the x-fer case arms?

Sorry. to me it looks like ball bearings ..
Sorry did not end up pulling the T/case, just replaced the short side arm .. (ran out of time) Yep Zukboys FSM is what I look at as well ..
as the balls run in a replaceable bearing race (the bit that sits over top of the shaft) they should be fine as they will never contact the shaft itself ..
" If governments are involved in the covering up the knowledge of aliens, Then they are doing a much better job of it than they do of everything else "

yeah, if it's ball bearings it's all good... have a look ar 14-11(p299), it mentions needle roller bearings a couple of times. this is what i'm worried 'bout, cos if they have to roll on the hard face then i could have problems....
pics kinda look like ballbearing tho

The gears on one of the lay shafts run on a needle bearings ( I remeber from many moons ago when I had mine apart putting in the 4.16's)

so am i gonna have problems with needle bearings running on a face that's not smooth? i don't wanna go to the effort and cost of putting all this in for it to fail on me in the near future...
anyone seen or heard 'bout this b4, and whether it's an issue????

they input and both outputs used regular bearings (they dont run against the gear shafts at all, there is a bearing pressed on over the top of the shafts that has it's own suface for the balls in the bearing to roll against)
The lay shaft is replaceable (if it's needed to be) it is part of your existing transfer case.. So you should not have any issues ..
You got these gears second hand from Sam if memory serves, I am certain he would not sell you a dodgy bit of crap (unless he told you it was a dodgy bit of crap before money changed hands etc.. )
" If governments are involved in the covering up the knowledge of aliens, Then they are doing a much better job of it than they do of everything else "
that's what i figure, don't think sam woulda sold me something that wasn't up to scratch when he said it was in excellent condition.
hopefully i'm just confusing myself... the FSM looks like it says the output shaft is sposed to have needle rollers but meh, i'm just a computer geek
i'll talk to a mechanically minded mate tonight, and maybe post pics tomorrow if i'm still confused. thanks for ur help so far guy
